  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

He is delicious, you do not notice the blend, he still has youthful strength, but good taste for the age, with 90-100 € fair prizes.
    • Nose
intense, grainy sweetness, light tingle (salty-sour freshness), biscuits with lemon icing, some orange / peach jam
    • Taste
pretty intense, lasting pinch of salt & pepper on the tongue, with plenty of wood influence - forest honey, cocoa, nutella, blackberry jam ....
    • Finish
long and peppery, from sip to sip more bittersweet chocolate

  2. lachaineduwhisky did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

Dusty initially, it is warm at the opening. Salted butter caramel, dried apricots, cereals. Scented and very round. On the palate, super melted and mellow with the first sip, it is buttered and creamy with sweet spices. Quite corpulent for a blend. Finale rather fleshy for a blend.

    Nose 4/5
    Mouth & Finale 3/5

    Whiskey n ° 2096

Tasted at Tunsberg Whisky Festival 2019.
    Fairly priced for a 21YO
Don't expect a pure Springbank. It's a blend, and as such it is a quite good one.
    • Nose
      85 85
      Earthy, vegetal green. Rubarb sprouts.
Sweet cereals with a pinch of salt.
    • Taste
      87 87
      Oily and relatively sweet arrival.
Again that fresh slighty sour rubarb.
Enough spice to give a pleasant warmth, and here as well; a pinch of salt.
Not the typical Campbeltown, but the difference doesn't make it a bad whisky.
    • Finish
      84 84
      Medium lenght.
Moving from spicy sweet to bitter dry.

Good value at around 80 €.

Some sulphur (firecrackers), brine and faint smoke on the nose, along with zesty, acidic fruit. Also something oily.

In keeping with the Springbank style, the palate presents as tart, astringent, lemony and salty with soft smoke. This has quite some kick to it at 46% and does not seem much mellowed by age. The grain content is indiscernible to me, apart from a vague softness perhaps.

The finish could be longer, but it's nice, with maritime peat, saltwater and a dash of lime.

  6. dramspotter scored this whisky 77 points Connoisseur

This was sampled from a low remaining quantity in a bar so it could have been up on the shelf for years, so might not be representative of the whisky overall, but if it were, it is not a great advertisement for Campbeltown!
    • Nose
quite hard to get a reading, very reticent; sharp a bit grassy, then grass seems to morph into apple
    • Taste
bit like the alcohol on a hand wipe, yes something akin to a Girvan in there, but what peat there is is pretty subtle. Lemon scented handwipe is a little unkind - more like grassy handwipe or a hand lotion (but not the oily kind)
    • Finish
short->medium; more short than anything - a little sickly but it dissipates pretty quickly

  8. ctu scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

There is no Campbeltown feeling and the associated high standard, but water helps a lot.
    • Nose
Interesting and slowly open one. Caramel, honey, flowers, tea, citruses, vanilla. Mild smoke.
    • Taste
Freshly grated lemon peel, spicy oak, milk chocolate, earth.
    • Finish
      Medium length, bittersweet.

Tasted at a Malt Mongers Israel evening

I was a bit let down by this one. I’ve had it before (about a year ago) and remember quite liking it but this time round I really felt the acetone notes on it which were far too strong and overpowering.

    Reviewed in my blog: https://iwriteaboutstuffilike.com/2017/01/21/malt-mongers-israel-aged-blends-night/
    • Nose
Light floral notes. Honey. Acetone. Milk chocolate. Pears.
    • Taste
Bitter wood. Citrus peel. Slightly earthy. Dust
    • Finish
Medium long. Bitter citrus. Fennel. Anise. Acetone.

Closed. Patiently wait for the aroma to open up, drop of water helps.
Slightly pungent. Floral, toasted malt and thought I get some black tea
    leaf in there.

    Palate:- Mellow,
soft spices, savoury. Earthy flavor derived from campbeltown peat that
reminds me of Springbank only highlight of this dram. I find it somehow a
bit hollow and dull, not quite the usual 'hit you on the teeth'
campbeltown whisky that I am expecting.

Finish:- Medium with bitterness and astringent.
