Whisky Reviews for Mannochmore 1992 CA

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Very attractive nose, palate might be all little too spicy for me. Interesting Mannochmore though.
    • Nose
Fruity sweetness of plums and strawberries. Fresh pencil shavings. But also aceton. Sawdust and beeswax. Hints of sherry.
    • Taste
Punchy and spicy. Pepper and cloves. Later on more sappy oak. Gingerbread. Cedarwood. Cinnamom.
    • Finish
      Quite long. Tanninic. Gingery. Liquorice.

prunes red fruit and a bit creamy.

taste not that rich like the nose.

finish is neverending, prunes are back. blueberry and paste.

rather weak taste. great nose and finish make up for that. [hate it or love it.]

  3. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

N: almond paste, glue, cherries, cherry wood, parsley and creamy - advocaat
T: plums and strawberries in whipped
F: strawberries (Fruit tella), yellow fruits and caramel

I've had my moments with this one. Sometimes I love it and sometimes
the bubblegummyness takes the edge off it for me. It's as dark as a
Black Bowmore, or more worryingly a Loch Dhu, but this has no
relationship to the notorious Loch Dhu other than coming from the same
distillery and having an intense colour. This is all sherry cask and
the hugely active cask has imparted a bucketful of flavour. It's not
the best balanced thing, but when I give it a chance its a wonderful
journey. Sadly I have just finished the bottle, although I think I took
a sample a wee while ago so I can revisit it at some point in the
    future.
    • Nose
Marmalade, apricots, prunes, bubblegum, fabric softener, coconut, fresh
cut grass, coffee and licquorice, buttermilk, dried tea and tobacco.
There's a huge amount going on here and it all hangs together somehow.
    • Taste
Initially a big hit of Oloroso then cocoa, porridge and draff
    • Finish
lovely fizzing long finish, with barley sugars bubbling away.

Third and last sample from Magic Slims 3 Decades of Mannochmore Good nose again. Not as good as the 1982 CA with 66.6% but not bad at all (and more then the MM-rate of 78 points). This whisky isn't balanced and a bit nervous. interesting tho.
