Nice interaction of a large portion of bourbon cask with exactly the right amount of sherry in my opinion, nice, not everyday notes but not exactly strange either.
    • Nose
For me, there was a lot of bourbon cask from the start, sometimes even reminiscent of very old bourbons, just rounded, macadamia nuts, marzipan, vanilla, fat honey, apricot jellies, lychee, honeydew melon, banana jellies, peach jam, lemon grass
    • Taste
Apricot, peach, honeydew melon all three everywhere, plus perfectly balanced fruit acidity that gives it a little freshness, but just so much that it doesn't make it look young, old cognac, lemon meringue, cumin, lemongrass, sweet ginger candies, subtle parchment notes and a little damp oak , Almond cookies
    • Finish
Macdamia, almonds, oak and light ginger, toffee, medium to long, the subtle fruit acid here and a hint of salt

The nose starts with sherry then slowly transitions to caramel, toffee, and vanilla extract.

The palate is extremely elegant in its delivery and is filled with cupcakes and confectionary sweetness.

The finish is long and lingers with oak sweetness.

A lovely old school Glen Moray. A class act.

    • Nose
      Colour:
It's a little darker than the 24 year old from 1962

      Nose:
In a direct comparison it starts a bit drier. Sawdust, dried peach, juicy orange and this nice wax note again. This one seems more fruity to me. Apricots, a hint of leather and light liquorice. Sprinkled with nutmeg. With a little more time in the glass, it develops into Maggisau. Wonderful! Now more herbs and leather. Now looks much darker than at the beginning. Plum, a little menthol and then here too, this moist tobacco note. The colleague now appears more sedate and sour. But that is not uncomfortable in connection. Smells really nice and old. There is also a pickled sour cherry note. Like screwing an old, forgotten mason jar into Grandma's basement.
    • Taste
Leathery start. Dark berries, pickled cherries and this damp tobacco note. Everything but very set and gentlemanly. Something surprises me now. The second sip brings a little more spice. Plus an overripe mango. I taste my roasted aromas. Now looks significantly nuttier than the 24j from 62. The taste is tart than the other. Blunt-waxy-dry. Reminds me of children's clay. Now more cereals are added. Have a light coffee note. And roasted malt. The 43% did not prevail here. Everything is very mild and smooth.
    • Finish
Medium length. For this, the lovage picks up briefly. Oh the very creamy. And there are still toasted aromas.

I have not had an old school Glen Moray before, but this takes the top. It isn't difficult to get into nor is it overwhelmingly easy too, in the sense that then nose is still on point to what was described by my friend. However, the body is a little dry in terms of flavour and texture. Nonetheless, real good stuff.

At that price of TWE, I would not pay. Maybe £650. Although when my friend had bought this, it was as low as £150.

A chic nose, the taste sags a little, but overall it's very good
