Beautiful exotic fruits with some notes of white pepper, then chocolate. Later, malt well ahead. A few drops of water help put the fruits back on the scene. On the palate, fresh and exotic fruits in all their freshness. No disappointment with the announcement of the nose. Nice consistency. Just the sweet stuff that goes on in the finale. Perfect alcoholic integration, by the way. 3cl, it was not enough!

    Enthusiasm 5/5

    DD! (3)
    • Nose
a plate of fresh fruit, sour candies, a little lime
      a grassy, slightly chocolatey side
    • Taste
spices that ignite a little, then the fruity sweetness comes back!
a little caramel, a good malty feeling, it's sweet, and with a bit of bitterness.
then a little wood and fruit back, on the green pear and on the slightly cooked banana!
      chocolate again, milk and sweet!
    • Finish
medium, rather subtle starting on the apple and cooked pear, on a lemony trace, and a buttered sensation, pastry in the end.

Presentation is worth more than that, I just wanted to give a great price score since I had mine for 74€.

A good, very good one indeed, and somewhat different given its drier caracteristics. Lacks some complexity and some better alcohol integration to go higher but hey, I grabbed my bottle by chance a month ago for 74€, and I still think it was really great bargain.
    • Nose
Back to it now that I've got a proper bottle. Very fruity and emblematic of these typical "middle-aged Irish" notes, so rather more western fruits than tropical ones though banana is the main one. But apples and pears aren't far away. Alcohol is not a problem so far. Gets more flowery with time, adding new fruity tones with time like some citrus element. Some white chocolate at times, and quite some dry barley. It's not as glamourous and opulent / perfumy than other Irish, somewhat straighter.
    • Taste
I remember why I thought it was more "virile and dry" than these usually are : alcohol might play a role in that but indeed, it's not the "easy peasy" kind with truckloads of honey and apple compote right away (like in this one : https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/58978/ireland-2000-dd). There's actually a good deal of white pepper and lime skin, making it, yeah, straighter. But the fruits haven't disappeared. Banana, pears, but after some aeration some more complex fruits show up like pineapple, pomgrenate maybe, and even a flowery side with orange blossom. It's quite malty as well generally speaking. Alcohol integration could be better at that stage.
    • Finish
Fruity, dry, peppery and even salty, with more citrus now but hints of spearmint and many other vegetal tones. Leafy.

Thought it was a very nice take on exploiting the usual Irish fruitiness but with a somewhat virile, drier twist. Very good !

Not much to say, in fact, compared to the shovel of Irish coming out in recent months. A treat of every moment, to savor at ease.
    • Nose
A very recognizable Irishman, on the hyper fruity (apricot, banana, peach, pear, and a few drops of grapefruit) juicy and fresh floral. Personally I love this kind of nose, which here is very rich, present and powerful.
    • Taste
In the lineage of the nose. A basket of sweet and juicy fruits. Vanilla and honey over these fruits. A very slight bitterness of fruit in the background. Sweet spices by pinches.
    • Finish
Average. The juicy fruits fade and give way to pollen dust and delicate wood. Sweet spices fall asleep slowly.
