  1. Cask1988 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    Typical inchgower
    • Nose
A nose wrapped in spices, combined with a ‘hard’ grain note. Star anise, cinnamon, fudge and orange fruits.
    • Taste
Accessible, fatty and decent bodied. Quite some vanilla, honey and fudge notes with a spicy pepper-like bite underneath. Typical bourbon maturation.
    • Finish
Rather straight forward and a logical continuation of the above. Focused on dried spices and dry oak, sawdust kind of flavors.

The spicy character, as how I usually experience Inchgower, is very alive. That’s a positive for me. Although it’s a tasteful dram, I wouldn’t buy a full bottle of it.

I had a sample and I have a bottle. Will I open the bottle ???
    • Nose
      80 80
Subtle grain, vanilla, also some beeswax, everything very subtle, maybe a bit flat.
    • Taste
      82 82
Yellow ripe fruit, hazelnuts, milk chocolate and creamy
    • Finish
      78 78
Not particularly long and with a flat, perhaps somewhat herbaceous finish.

A nice one for the lovers of malty malts :)
    • Nose
A solid nose of cereal, wood and sweet fruit. That's what Inchgower is about! Also here, there is lot's of cereal (husks, jute bags), dust (it somehow reminds me of pot still whisky :)), apricot, wood shavings and vanilla. There is also some portion of grass.
    • Taste
Mild, still rather cereal-driven, but with ample sweet influences of creamy vanilla, oak shavings, orange liqueur. Some refreshing grass is there too.
    • Finish
A nicely balanced finish, balance between sweet and sour. There is citrus, pastry, still some dust and jute bags, cinnamon and this solid malty base.

  5. Defeatless scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    Nose:
Sweet and fruity, a bit grassy and there is a mineral note in here. Some pollen and honey. But there is also a hint of some exotic fruit.

    Taste:
Sweet with a sour touch. Some dusty notes. Again the pollen and honey touch. But there is also a red fruit hint here.

    Body:
    Medium

    Finish:
medium-long. A bit dry and dusty. There are again some fruity notes which fade away in oak notes. A little bit tannic.

    Price:
Don't pay over €50,- for this

    Presentation:
    Decent as with al F&F

A whisky with a Janus head, but interesting. Decreased one point when tasting it back (from 86 to 65 points). Tasted 03/04/2016 in a Flora & Fauna line-up.
    • Nose
Hay, grassy, some glue, and it has a rye sweetness to it. And is that red fruit (red currant) that I smell? Weird nose, but pleasant.
    • Taste
Seems to me a mix of bourbon and sherry casks. Hay, grass, green apple when in your mouth - but when you swallow it, it seems "sherrier". Spices, prickly at the back of the tongue, aniseed.
    • Finish
Anise, almost menthol. Stays at the back of the mouth. Pretty long.

  9. KayMeertens scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Almond, vanilla, malt, banana, apple and a dirty fudgy touch. This is not always the case, but in this one I find the latter a bit unpleasant. This whisky wants to be fresh and fruity, but can't. Later some honey.
    • Taste
Almond, honey, caramel, malt, apple, yellow raisin, vanilla and orange and a little candle wax.
    • Finish
Caramel, honey, vanilla, orange and cocoa.
