    A good bourbon with an unusually high rye content;

    [Color] amber;
    • Nose
      mild, caramel, oak, vanilla;
    • Taste
      soft, gentle onset, caramel, honey, spicy (pepper, some oak), vanilla, balanced;
    • Finish
      medium long, sweet, soft finish; gently spicy in the aftermath;

    Rather boring and watery (too low abv?)
    • Nose
      Sweet ripe oranges, milk chocolate, honey, brown sugar, no burn at all from the alcohol, vanilla
    • Taste
      Heavy on caramel, apple, watery
    • Finish
      Burned sugar, not much oak notes

    Whilst on the nose quite promising, the body might have needed a bit more ABV to convince me. Also the finish seems way too short in my opinion.

    This has been on my wish list for a log time and i eventually saw it in my local whiskey shop, getting harder to get hold of apparently. The wait was worth it, this is a really nice and complex bourbon, it wasn't cheap, but it wasn't expensive either.

    Top Notch Bourbon and it was a treat to myself.
    • Nose
      Mmmm!!! quite a complex nose of candy, burnt toast, Black forest gateau, summer fruit pudding, new leather and blood orange, really nice,deep and strong aromas.
    • Taste
      The taste is just as good, summer fruit pudding again but this time with cream. Medium bodied with vanilla sweetness and dark plums. At 40% it's really bang on the nose.
    • Finish
      A nice medium, dry finish, with some oak in the background and sarsaparilla on the death.

    This is certainly not an earth shattering bourbon, but quite a step up
    from the bottom shelf stuff.
    • Nose
      On the sweet, light and accessible nose citrus dominates. Very sweet
      indeed. Spicy too (white pepper, vanilla, ginger), thanks to the double portion
      of rye in the mix.
    • Taste
      It is rather light and watery on the palate, which is something of a
      letdown. Luckily, the taste makes up for a lot. A perfect continuation of the
      nose with some extra caramel and a good helping of mint. Actually, a lot of
      peppermint. It freshens the whole.
    • Finish
      The finish is medium in length, midly spicy and warming. It is soothing.

    There are way better whiskeys in JBs small batch collection.
