Whisky is now produced all over the world, so let's try Slyrs Classic from Germany. Established in 1999, Slyrs distillery uses primarily new American oak casks to mature their Single Malts. The nose is perfumy and youngish with sweet pastry, vanilla powder and fresh flowers, and there are occasional notes of ginger, apple juice and bubblegum. This malt is not shy! Arriving punchy and aromatic, the taste is quite cask-dominated and slightly spirity with hints of walnuts. Bitter chocolate dominates the simple finish. Oktoberfest with Bavarian whisky? Why not.

An okay young Virgin Oak Whisky that is way too expensive. This would be appropriately priced at around 25€, or less!

Really very tasty and of a typical German fruit distillery character little or nothing to be felt. Barrel maturation in new American oak barrels creates a honey, caramel and especially vanilla explosion. Very pleasant to drink.

  10. DulischM scored this whisky 74 points Expert Senior

All in all, this is a real German whisky in terms of taste, because it is strongly reminiscent of apricot fruit.
    • Nose
At first I smell a lot of apricot and apricot, followed by a hint of citrus fruit, I think I smell lime grass.
    • Taste
It is a little oily and heavy in the mouth.
    • Finish
The finish is sharp and short.
