  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

18 years, sherry barrel, barrel thickness, 95 € -> fits. Powerful, fat, yummy, that delivers well.
    • Nose
interesting - about 10cm above the glass I have fresh cherries and red apple, 5cm spicy herbs and hay, in the glass then the oak board, tobacco, leather, burned match, some cocoa powder
    • Taste
Sachertorte, Storck giants, cocoa, black pepper, a hint of dark berry jam, sugar beet syrup
    • Finish
first a short, warm spiciness, then again long and fat chocolate sweets with black cherry jam

Right power Sherry bomb with chocolaty and fruity notes

    Nose:
This is quite an intense nose, but very Ben Nevis. It has some bbq and raw meat notes. It is thick but still tasty. With some water you get more shoe-polish and leather.

    Taste:
Sweet and sour, a bit of an alcohol heat. after a few seconds the sherry influence gets more and more clear. With water it is less intense, but even better. You get a load of sweet and sour red fruit, combined with a pleasing note of sherry.

    Body:
    Full and oily.

    Finish:
medium-long length. Intense, a bit dry/tannic but i a good manner. Very heavy on the sherry (PX I assume).

    Price:
This was sold for under €100,- which is very good pricing.

    Presentation:
Don't know this was a sample.

  7. Bosi scored this whisky 82 points Specialist

Definitely a whisky for sherry lovers, with many notes typical of these barrels. The barrels crush the whisky but something.
    • Nose
Classic sherry notes dominate the whisky: raisins, tobacco, old leather and burnt cookies, plus some plum cake.
    • Taste
Also in the taste of the sherry is very present. It is complemented by notes of stout beer, black bread, tobacco and fermented fruits, especially apples and grapes.
    • Finish
The long finish also offers some oak and grape juice to dark chocolate.

  8. Murxus scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Nice and typical sherry wood Ben Nevis. Resembling strong the 1997/2013 Pearls of Sotland (53276), which has despite his younger age a touch stronger oak and drying tannins in the finish. 88/89 pts.

  9. Okto-Bull scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

He is funny. Somehow the nose, taste and finish do not quite fit together. A clear line is missing here, but that's exactly what I like very much. It is worth to taste this malt several times, each time you discover something new.
    • Nose
      Clear raisins; dark, dry oak; Chocolate; heavy, deep sweetness; a touch of sulfur / gunpowder; Marble cake with a bit of pepper and nutmeg; dark, red apples; The sulfur / gunpowder becomes, over time, freshly baked, dark bread;
    • Taste
Slightly creamy; dominant, bitter oak, which changes after a short time into sweetness; Cherries with chocolate, reminiscent of the interior of Mon Cherie; light spice
    • Finish
Medium to long with pronounced spiciness and dark apples and red grapes; fresh tobacco leaves; on the palate remains a very fruity sweetness along with chocolate; From the oak of nose and taste is now hardly anything to feel
