  1. dRambo scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Blindtasting: Initially a bit closed - he makes after a while really nice - very tasty exotic fruits without junk notes
    • Nose
grapefruit-citrus-fruity sweet oak - oily, spicy, pine needles, herbs, rosemary, cloves, cumin, broth, mineral, honey, resin, sawdust, a distant smoky note, eucalyptus and mint, with more time in the glass extreme vanilla, pineapple
    • Taste
exotic fruits - pineapple, lime, carambola, mango, banana and cucumber with a good dose of mint and pine needles, in the background dry oak and barrel wort
    • Finish
mild spicy, cooling and warming with wonderful exotic fruits and fresh herbs

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I like it very much, tasted 3 Sherry-Ben-Nevis is my winner of the evening, the most interesting, has character. The Nasenfasching makes joy, needs a lot of space in the mouth (you can then also play something with water) and the finish has also good to tell, this is no boring. 95 € for 24 years, SC and Fasstärke - check, runs!
    • Nose
Immediately intense, fresh hay and meadow herbs, wonderful, after a little breathing then pineapple and a sprinkling of grapefruit added, nice sparkling-fruity, and then a strong breeze anise and white pepper
(Water is not so good - cozy kräutrig with a splash of lemon, the fascination is lost)
    • Taste
spicy-kräutrig-sweet, crème brûlée with hay, white pepper, banana chips, some burnt cookies, slightly resinous, after a few sips, I also find some grapefruit and bitter lemon (but not nearly as clear as the fruitiness in the nose)
    • Finish
long and spicy-bitter, here move again ordenlich pepper and resin, rather warm and dry, then cereals and finally a reminder of bitter lemon

Tasting notes of a blind tasting

    an interesting whisky

    Nose awesome
Mouth good only after a longer life
    Finish long with later beauty
    • Nose
      Blender's Glass

      a lot of sweetness
      caramelized cotton candy
      strong vanilla
      floral note
      raw cake dough
Pear cinnamon note with a pinch of pepper
      steamed apple
      toasted cereal, malt
    • Taste

      soft start
      Pepper on the tongue
Woodruff on the palate while drinking fast
      - sharpness kills notes -
      Nutmeg, pepper, slightly gammeliges wood

      20 minutes later
      the notes are much softer
Vanilla and the bright fruits from the nose come through
    • Finish

      at first sharp
      later are drum notes
like baked apple juice and junk wood

In the overall package very harmonious, with nice elderly notes on the tongue.
    • Nose
      88 88
Sweet, candied fruit. Intense vanilla flavor, mixed with freshly chopped parsley and basil. In addition to the sweet fruits an earthy, mossy note with a little mold fungus. Sugar beet syrup, malt, roasted almonds.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sweet peppery, strong onset. The candied fruit from the nose also here, funfair apple. Roasted orange peel, almonds, hazelnuts. Waxy and oily. Moist clay soil, rotten wood, old shriveled apple.
    • Finish
      87 87
Long and intense, slightly dry, spicy, playing in the tingle. A reminder of the sweet fruits from the nose and the palate.

  5. Joschbert scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

great integrated alcohol at barrel strength, very round, just fun
    • Nose
Floral, caramel, organic / fleshy note, trochen, mineral, apple, herbs
    • Taste
Bouillon, banana, heather, grapefruit, sweet-sour, caramel, wax, slightly salty, barbecue sauce, oranges, cream brulée, sage
    • Finish
Bourbon note, orange, oak, coconut, slightly peppery, medium to long

  6. Murxus scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

typical Ben Nevis nose as I love it, unfortunately way too much white pepper on the tongue. 25.09.16: corrected from 86 to 88. That with the white pepper at the time was probably the form of the day, or the still freshly opened bottle. With some water by now a really nice dainty Bourbon cask, the 24y stand up well to Ben Nevis.

  7. LittlePeat scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Nose: Very alcoholic, does not pass with time. In the foreground resin (very strong), behind it very weak meat pie and herbs. Possibly unripe mango.

Palate: Oh, what's that ... Fresh mugwort very strong! And currant leaves. Also a lot of resin and wood. A little mango.

Finish: mugwort and meat pie (springbok).

Conclusion: the barrel was not so good. The character of the distillery is overwhelmed by woody and, above all, resinous notes.

  9. Albaron scored this whisky 84 points Specialist

A difficult whisky for me. On the one hand, there are exciting and really nice flavors, but then also flavors that I do not like and that rather bother me. The green notes and the obvious smoke, which is not one but turns out to be acid, pull it down for me. Strange whisky and even though I like weird guys, he's not my thing after all. Too bad.

Notes created during a blind tasting.
    • Nose
Slight alcohol, slightly sprightly, then immediately green, immature grain, a hay aroma, a light smoke, behind it comes out a bit bitterness, a sherry aroma?
    • Taste
dry at the beginning, then comes the sweetness with force, orange juice, a little sherry, dried fruit, some leather and tobacco with a slight bitterness. In between the immature cereals and among all hovering the "green" aroma and some smoke. The finish adds some pepper, which then turns into a strong acidity
    • Finish
The sweetness gives way to a strong bitterness, the green and the smoke try to fight through this bitterness, but are ultimately dominated by it and at the end it is dry again
