    • Nose
Sweet peat, evoking bacon. Sturdy malt, candied lemon. Delicate flesh fruits. Has trouble deploying completely.
    • Taste
Sweet and round despite its relative youth, it is delicate and elegant on white peach, nutmeg, cinnamon, and fine peat.
    • Finish
Very nice on white pepper and cinnamon.

      Nose 3/5
      Mouth & Finale 4/5

Very good this CAOL ILA SANSIBAR!
    • Nose
The nose is bright, between medicinal peat, iodine, eucalyptus and pineapple, with a little water peat and pineapple take their place with a little mint.
    • Taste
In the mouth it is ash, a little iodine, it is creamy we can smell pineapple and a little lemon.
    • Finish
The finish is long, peppery, ashy, smoke and herbaceous, a certain freshness persists.

Caol Ila 9 yo 2006 (51,3%, Sansibar ‘Samurai label’ 2015, bourbon hogshead, 340 btl.)

Nose: nice combo of bright fruits and mentholated and iodine notes.  Eucalyptus, Tiger balm. Wet wool. Unripe pineapple, perhaps a little rhubarb. Lemon peel and pretty clean peat smoke. The freshness of the mint / menthol is great. Mouth: same thoughts, very mentholy, minty and herbal. Definitely the most medicinal profile of these three. A lot of ashes. Oysters with lemon. Anise. I like the roundness and the freshness. Finish: long, plenty of liquorice, peppery notes and herbal touches.Very good selection, the minty freshness works like a charm here, and makes you forget it’s basically young whisky. Around € 115, still available in some shops.

    Score: 88/100

Caol Ila 9 yo 2006/2015 (51.3%, Sansibar and S Spirits, bourbon, 340 bottles)
This should be very similar… Colour: white wine. Nose: indeed, but this
one’s got a little more medicinal notes (iodine, bandages) and perhaps a
little more pineapple as well. So it’s a little fruitier. With water: I
get more eucalyptus and more wet dogs. Old clothes, touches of
truffles… Mouth (neat): excellent, mentholy and earthy, so a little
different this time. The pineapples are there too (and lemon, oysters,
seaweed, smoke, ashes, seawater… As usual). With water: indeed, it’s a
little fruitier. Liquorice allsorts, violet drops, anis bredala (an
Alsatian thing)… Finish: medium, with even more sweet liquorice. Grassy
smoke. Comments: same high quality, this one’s just a little more
deviant, thus a little more interesting. Good, one more point. SGP:556 - 87 points.
