Nose, mouth and finish are harmonious and perfect with ease 94 out of 100 points Yes, I'm Heaven Thank you!
    Whisky without fast food treats
    • Nose
      a trace of smoke
      a ripe cornfield
      viscous sweet honey
      very ripe short-legged apple meat
oily velvety, almost smoky sweetness, caramel
his notes are very intense and dense
Whisky matured on wood - a clear camphor note
that's an honest statement - this whisky the nose is playing
      very good
Again and again this beautiful sunny warm cornfield around which everything turns
      Honey and vanilla
      yellow plum
old wood in honey coat :)
    • Taste

  2. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Good stuff. Currently double the cost of what I would pay for. So, just a sample for now, and will save a sample for later when I'm an old, old man.
    • Nose
Immediately reminds me of one of those 1973 hidden Speysides (fino cask Glenfarclas). Layers of fruits such as pineapple, Korean pears, and some sweet, herbal liqueur. Honeycomb.
    • Taste
Rather intense initially, but good balance afterwards. Love it. Vanilla frosting, coconut shavings, Fuji apples and Korean pears. Honey lemon tea.
    • Finish
Faultless dram. I hope Diageo pays their employees well because some of them are damn talented.

On another note, should I buy DEO stock now? God knows, everyone I know is drinking up a storm during this pandemic. Liquor store owners business up 40%. Probably be a 15% gain in the stock in the next 12 mos. It's a pretty safe longer-term play, and it pays some dividend. It's currently at 135.59. Let's revisit on June 25, 2021.

    sample.

You gotta try this and i need to check out more freaking Dailuaines. Almost a minor legend. The slightly unexceptional nose and that tiniest hint of heat drag it down to a shameful 92.
    • Nose
Barley field, lots of citrus, hint of wax. It's very fresh in a way and just slightly sharp. Mirabelles, yellow plums. Hint of dry meat. Dry grass. Quite a theme with this one. Solid nose but not exceptional.
    • Taste
Very dusty and waxy arrival with a meaty undertone. Much like lamb actually. Interesting note. Big spicy attack in mid palate, probably the oak but nothing offensive. Slightly leathery and some damp/musty/mouldy stuff going on in the background. This whisky is intense without ever being over the top about it, plus this is quite an interesting take on unsexiness. There is absolutely nothing sweet about the palate(which i love right now). Turns a tiny bit hot towards the end but it can be ignored.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Dry, spicy. The after taste lingers for quite a while with a thick vanilla/citrus note.

  4. bourbonryelover scored this whisky 95 points Newbie

I think a lot of people are too hung up on sherry or peat and just don't understand this one. It's a bit complex, but really just shy of being a masterpiece, and was a pretty reasonably priced one as well.

  5. Georges scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Part of Diageo's Special Releases 2015 (matured in refill American oak casks).
    • Nose
      93 93
Light, delicate, sweet malt, marzipan, toffee, grainy, cereals, some smoke, sugary, citrus, chocolate, eucalyptus, fruity (papaya, apricots, plums), vanilla
    • Taste
      92 92
Sweet, fresh, tropical fruits (passion fruit, mangos, kiwis, tangerines), leathery, meaty, oaky, spicy (nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger), citrus, lemon zest
    • Finish
      92 92
Long, fresh, grainy, tobacco, ashy, oaky, oranges

    'Too good for a bear'
N: Wow, smell that honey  pot, raw, unadulterated runny honey, a touch heathery, heather smoke, gentile barley, soft malt, soft oak. Natural whisky perfection?
T: From grain to mash and then to bourbon oak, theres an exquisite balance and immaculate delivery. Honey Lockett's and barley-oak-infused-lemon carry smiles to the lips.
F: Some paper mache, a touch of clay and hessian sack are detected before yet another release of honey. Stretches out infinitely
C: it's like a David Stewart style whisky, no fuss, no fireworks, only beauty. This was up against some serious hitters [most of Diageo’s 2015 releases], and for me it was the finest of the night. The only fault was into the finish but it concluded as splendidly as it began.

    Score an A [92]

9.1/10 from Dave BroomNOSE: Immediate marzipan, some nose prickle and the richness of distillery character with just a hint of smoke. Then come ripe, fat fruits, cooked red plums and a meaty undertow that slowly gives way to a sweet, complex mix of dried citrus peels, angelica flower, hot chocolate.

PALATE: Ripe and rich, with that chocolate note continuing. Shows great balance and maturity. Long, with some tropical fruits, mixed with almond. It slowly builds and becomes more weighty with that meatiness underpinning.

    FINISH: Long and fruity.

CONCLUSION: My personal favourite of this year’s releases and, given the market, this is also a fair price. Well worth a look.

RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME: A lamb tagine in Marrakesh.

  10. Calmar scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A good whisky, not too diverse in the palette of derivatives, but well balanced, with sharp oak notes and bitterness inherent in this distillery, balanced by sweetness and floral-grassy motifs, fresh, invigorating.
    • Nose
Open, wet, not dried boards, green grass, carpentry workshop, light shades of solvent, caustic mineral tones, grain, light notes of needles.
    • Taste
Soft, rich, sweet-woody, tart notes of oak, bitterness of bark, fried nuts, cocoa, lemon zest, tobacco.
    • Finish
Soft, refreshing, oak, grain, floral-herbal notes, ginger, lemon peel, tobacco, metallic acidity.
