Nice sweet and fruity whisky. Candy-like, and despite the high Abv very drinkable. Pleasant dram.
    • Nose
      87 87
Full scent, fruity and a lot of sweetness, vanilla. Some alcoholpunch, but reasonable for its high Abv. Some peach and orange.
    • Taste
      87 87
Powerful, but very drinkable for this Abv. orange and a little bitter note underneath, orange zest. Some honey and candy-like sweetness as well.
    • Finish
      86 86
Still pretty strong, a lot of sweetness, candy-like, vanilla, orange, pretty long finish.

Unfortunately, you will not see much maturing on Fino sherry. It is PX and Oloroso that strikes the clock. Anyway, this is how you keep the hobby exciting. Especially with this bottling. Delicious!
    • Nose
      87 87
Slightly sweet nose. Nuts (almonds, walnut), raisins, spicy, tea. In the distance, the oak wood slowly rises. The alcohol sticks lightly in the nose.
    • Taste
      88 88
The 61% alcohol pops in it. I taste plums, spices, in the background some cinnamon, student oats, oak.
    • Finish
      86 86
A long spicy finish. Warming, dry, orange, espresso.

toffee and burnt caramel on the nose. Burnt caramel on the palate as well. Long, oily finish. Doesn't taste like 61%. A fine dram.

Really good, sometimes very good. An exciting alternative to the standard Oloros keg. 87 points
    • Nose
      90 90
Nutty, dry with prominent raisin. Trail mix in general. A subtle sweetness suggests itself. Apricots, almonds without shell. Roasted walnuts. Dry oak.

Water: a little drier. Much more does not happen.
    • Taste
      90 90
Wow. So full and strong. Not too spicy. Amazingly cute. Not really cute, but I'm surprised. Student food is also here to make out. Old raisins, dry and hard. Oak wood chips in orange mulled wine. Nutmeg.

      Water: sweet, juicy, orange juice.
    • Finish
      82 82
      Medium. Dry. Orange jam.

Great whisky. Definitely wants more whisky from Fino Sherry Butt. Pretty complex for the 15 years and recommended for all sherry lovers!
    • Nose
The sherry immediately rises in the nose. First very closed with an astonishing amount of barrel. After a short while, the whisky opens and becomes sweeter. An association of rice pudding with warm churches. Spices that are reminiscent of oriental tea. Later lighter fruits, apple cider.
    • Taste
Powerful, the 61% are noticeable, but not unpleasant. Fruit compote with ripe plums, but otherwise light-fruity than in the nose. Spicy, a little cinnamon, malty.
    • Finish
Long finish. Probably owed to the 61%, very warm and long-lasting. Mild espresso and fruit flavors remain.

A strong middle peasant in his region, the sweetness is really some kind of bourbon, as my squid Kalmar said; sherry finish is almost not felt, a feeling that the second barrel is a sherry refil. Kalmar probably also tasted the sample from the festival at Dmitry Solodov, judging by the date, it's funny. Even without trying, added water, 61% here is completely inexpedient, especially economically.
    • Nose
Lollipops, citrus, flowers, toffee. Smell liked the most, caused nostalgia for the 12th Glenlivet, whisky, which I first tried when I first began to learn whisky in 2013.
    • Taste
      Sharp, burning, sweetish, floral nectar
    • Finish
Spiritual, slightly woody, slightly oak, not bright and not long. Bourbon sweetness and oak last for a long time.

  15. Calmar scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Powerful and pushy, but it feels like it is too tightened by its own fortress, it does not reveal itself to its full extent (the addition of water changed practically nothing, except for easy smoothing of corners and reduction of sharpness), on the barrel it seems that it was a sherry finish, many derivatives have obviously bourbon roots; for the 15-year-old Tomintoul, nevertheless, it is, rather, a great success.
    • Nose
Outdoor, moist, raw board, furniture varnish, apple, peach, orange peel, wood dust, fried nuts.
    • Taste
Sharp, varnish-woody, peppery, burnt caramel, coniferous notes, grain, malt, burnt biscuits, camphor, mint, medicinal herbs.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, caramel sweetness, bitter bark, tart, astringent oak, lacquer notes.

    Tasting Notes by Weinquelle Lühmann
Aroma: Golden syrup, ripe plums and figs a hint of citrus notes. Complex spices.
Taste: Good feeling on the palate, sirup toffee, rich fruit cake mix, licorice. Dried fruit, cognac-like, gingerbread.

Water opened it a bit but not as much as I'd hoped given the ABV. It did spice it up, but almost made it a touch hot.
    • Nose
Fragrant, flowery, faint chocolate, vanilla, watermelon?!?
    • Taste
Explosive at first, the 61% is quite apparent might need water. Fruity, the sherry is thick on this one.
    • Finish
A bit of Absorbine junior, not that I've ever swallowed that crap.
