Not an overly complex Laddie but what it does, it does it real good. Agree with Cask1988 and Defeatless that this contains quite some buttery caramel candies, think Werthers Originals. But also whipped cream, butter, vanilla milkshake and candied fruit sprinkles make this almost a dessert like whisky. I liked it.

    • Nose
N- Punchy lemon peels oil with spicy top notes. Turn milky with whiff of fresh leather along with cayenne at the very tail. Locked and stiff, not improved much by airing, and whelmed with oak. (86/20)
    • Taste
P- In for a lemon spa? Is warm, citrus-y with fresh vanilla pods and spices floral cohiba. Flinty mouthfeel that stays well away from any excessive sweetness with right level of fruitiness. (88/22)
    • Finish
F- Long, stiff oak driven, spicy and dry. Not one with much depth to linger on, but appeared austere, solid and full. Authentic and reasonably well single cask bottling. (87/21)

Drank this together with Defeatless as a complimentary dram given by Daan Tje. An exceptional dram for a very attractive price! A 22yo CS single cask Laddie for €130 housing this quality? That’s a hell of a steal! Absolutely no regrets that we ordered a bottle each while enjoying this dram!
    • Nose
Wow this is classic old style whisky! Musty, Antique book store. Old, dried paper. Applewood, Granny Smith apples, wood shavings and tropical fruits like peach, apricot and banana. Also a very thick layer of buttered candy. ‘Roomboterbabbelaars’ as we Dutchies would call that. A very pleasing nose.
    • Taste
Creamy, oily, buttery and fudgy. Very gentle and soft but full bodied at the same time. Perfectly rounded. Again lots of butter influences. Age and patience did their part. A truly good and well matured single malt! Some white pepper appear after a while, playing with the front of the tongue. Tingling and rich of flavor.
    • Finish
Long, oaky and again buttery. Buttered candy and old book stores return again. Very nice and smooth mustiness with loads of aged wood and fudge at the end. This must have been a high quality cask.

What we call in The Netherlands: roomboterbabbelaars, very creamy and buttery. Fresh cut wood. Quite an intense nose with heavy wood influences. This one is on its top, woodwise. Hint of dust and antiquary.

SMELL Strawberries, sugared with ripe fruits such as melons, pears and pineapple. Very fruity. TASTE sweet, fruity, texture creamy and thick. Luscious vanilla, caramel and shortbread. Then fruity with pear, apricot and vanilla pudding. Beautiful unique single barrel.

spirit is still very much present, but what a good spirit. The barrel has not done much considering its age, but all sharp edges have been professionally removed

The description on the bottel says it all. Only the first few sips. Afterwards I get on the pallet some oak and slight bitterness that grows stronger as the dram becomes smaller...

    Started great, ended very moderate
