Whisky Reviews for Bowmore 1996 AD

- Fresh and uncut Bowmore at a massive abv. And maybe because of that abv and its freshness it's hard to discover any good sherry notes. A little citrus and enough peat smoke, typical Islay. Suits my palate! With a long and lingering finish of course... Both Adelphi and Bowmore did a good job here!

Aromatic smoke with notes of figs, raisins and a little licorice. Later sweeter with a strong sea breeze
Mega-sweet with chimney-bag. To dark fruits and a little resin
Laaaaaang and warming
- Tasting Notes by Adelphi;
1 of only 304 bottles from cask no. 960033
From a refill ex-Sherry hogshead, this is the full gold with amber lights.Immediate charred sticks with recently extinguished barbecue and leafy bonfires, this is quite nose-drying with traces of hemp rope, and hessian. The smoke becomes more fragrant with time, and blossom notes appear, with salted rum and raisin, raspberry vinegar and roasted salty walnuts.
The taste mirrors the nose – immediately ashy and smoky, becoming more gentile with a lovely fruity sweetness, just a hint of the sea and cherries on an open fire.
The finish is long and warming, plenty of lingering smoke from a steam engine.
