  1. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 50 points Connoisseur

Blindtasting I'm open to well-matured Singe Grain, but this one had such an overpowering cheap alcoholic drink that I could not enjoy it.
    • Nose
Limoncello ... citrus and alcohol ... cheaper limoncello, there is better. Ne mix of alcohol and citrus, also a little orange. But not more.
    • Taste
Grainy notes, artificially sweet, light bitterness
    • Finish
Citrus, alcohol, sweetener, a clue of grain.

  2. Calmar scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

One of my first experiences with the single grains, it was here that the barrel worked very actively, the bourbon is very much in flavor and taste, and so - very sweet, simple, but pleasant.
    • Nose
Open, bourbon tones - carpenter's workshop, vanilla, pickles, pine needles; raw barrel, light coffee notes (grains), sweet creamy motives, oatmeal cookies.
    • Taste
Sweet, oak with bitter taste, vanilla, varnish and resin notes.
    • Finish
Warming, bitterish-oak, with notes of eucalyptus and dry grasses, young bark, sweetness of burnt sugar.

I'm very sorry, but the rating suffers from the presentation and price. It is really an excellent whisky!

Excellent grain whisky, warm and intense taste. Sweet and harmonious taste. One of the best grains I had so far (the best out of 10 maybe). Excellent finish, because the strong vanilla stays long.
    • Nose
Fresh green apple and vanilla. A typical smell of grain, bitter and a bit "scraping" (in a good way). Cut grass, a breeze of spring.
    • Taste
Sweet like white sugar already at the beginning but increasing with time additionally. Clearly vanilla and a surprising fruitiness, some (white) wine flavor maybe. Some wooden, herbal oak bitterness in the background, growing stronger with time until it dominates at the finish.
    • Finish
Warm finish with oak barrel, means herbal bitter and still strong vanilla.

My first single grain whisky, so I don't really have a reference, but it's certainly not my thing.
    • Nose
Strong aromas of grain whisky, citrus fruits, sugar, wood polish, varnish. It is also slightly herbal, green tea, spices (mostly pepper), oak wood, perhaps one or two dried raisins. Mildly bourbon-y.
    • Taste
Delicate, shy even. Sweetness first, on white sugar, then eucalyptus, mint, more herbal notes, a few drops of lemon juice and tons of spices lingering on the tongue.
    • Finish
Long, slightly dryign, but most of all sweet and very spicy with pepper, ginger, cinnamon and chilli.

  9. alex..w..fan did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Note by Serge Valentin from whiskyfun.com:Invergordon 27 yo 1988/2015 (51.3%, Maltbarn, bourbon, 132 bottles)  Hope it’s not a lame duck (that was hilarious, S.) Colour: white wine. Nose: a rather grassier grain, but that may be the oak. Some grass, some cut apples, a little wood alcohol, perhaps… And a touch of acetone. Yeah well… With water: a bit of oak juice, a bit of vanilla, perhaps a drop of metal polish. Mouth (neat): it’s a bit like chewing on some giant marshmallow, just before quenching your thirst with a glass of grass juice. That’s good for your health! With water: better for sure, just not utterly complex. Custard and apple juice, plus some green tea. Finish: medium, a little sugary. Bubblegum indeed. Some light Cuban rum in the aftertaste. Comments: very fair, in fact, just not my style. Doesn’t quite hold a candle to Maltbarn’s malts, which are always of very high quality. IMHO! SGP:541 - 79 points.
