  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Delicious full bodied and complex bourbon from the era when KT was the flagship of the late, great Glenmore Distilling Company, run by the Thompson family in Owensboro KY. In the 1960's and 1970's KT used to be one of the most popular bourbon brands in Kentucky.
    • Nose
Lots of plum jam and cherries for a start. I also got sweetness of strawberries. Followed with beeswax polish, cinnamon and toffee. Hazelnuts. Old leather and cigar boxes at the background. Very nice!
    • Taste
Velvety but crisp with lots of chewy buttery oak and candy-floss. Marshmallow maltiness. Cumin, molasses and layered vanilla. Plenty of substance. Ginger. Some rye bitterness gradually emerging.
    • Finish
Medium long. Nutmeg and a little white pepper. Clove. Pine at the end. Well balanced bourbon from the old days.

I have the water jug to this whiskey and now I can say I have tasted it thanks to lincolnimp for the sample.

This is really gentle and inviting.
There is something about a bourbon nose that really gets to me.
This is what I call an all day sniffer.
This is quite a creamy nose and I am hoping it transcends to the taste.
Smells quite spicy so I'm guessing a high rye content.
    • Taste

Yeah it tastes quite spicy as well and creamy so it's so far so good.
Must admit it tastes a lot stronger than 43%.
I like this a lot and it ticks all the boxes, heard bad things about the standard Kentucky Tavern, that's why I've avoided it, this I will seek out.
    • Finish

The finish is surprisingly long, dry and has a lot of spice which work well.

  3. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Good old bourbon. Butterscotch, caramel, cloves, and cinnamon, along with a good amount of oak. Easy to drink.

Very good charred oak and fine vanilla notes, spices, cloves, black tea - very good

Oily, punchy, more teaish notes, subtle sweetness, more charred oak and vanilla, also some soy sauce

Medium long, warm, spicy, zesty, little herbal too

Nice nose, decent palate that is all front loaded, truckloads of spice, quite sweet.
