N: it is very open and fully deployed; really enveloping. There is in fact a great honeyiness, embellished with notes of malt a little peaty - however with a cereal and mineral charm of yesteryear. All very generous, even those beautiful notes of orange, dried fruit (almonds, hazelnut), raisins. There is also a whipping pear whiff. Creamy, but with a nice acidity. P: without wishing to sin by passatism, but these whiskys of the past, also 'entry-level', often seem more three-dimensional, deeper than today's equivalents: it starts a little 'muted, but then it is a crescendo composed of three fundamental elements: an orange really on the shields, decisive casks of malt and a lot, lots of dried fruit. With these actors on stage, the effect is of a not very marked sweetness, or rather of a seductive bittersweet. Still honey and also lemon. F: perhaps the passage that surprises us most, is between dried fruit and honey. This bottle has now received the 'right' recognition from collectors, reaching important quotations (we are around 150 euros), but what matters is the market price of the time, probably on popular levels. And this only to emphasize once again that, by making the necessary distinctions and evaluating product by product, what has been partly lost over the decades is not so much the quality in the absolute sense, but the objective validity of whisky 'base', the pleasure of a good dram, superbly pleasant as Serge defines it, at relatively low prices. Nowadays - typical adverb of the elderly who watches the construction sites always ready to exalt the good old days - instead the quality is always paid when there is, and sometimes even when there is not http://whiskyfacile.com/2014/08/22/glen-elgin-12-yo-1982-ob-43/
