    Bunnahabhain 1963 - 1997
Scotchwhisky.com: Rapid growth for Scotch in the early 1960s saw the stills being doubled in 1963, the same year as the floor maltings came out.
    • Nose
Very mature with waxy notes, oily, pastry, a trace of peat and later a more briny note.
    • Taste
Sweet, again very mature, malty, hay, fruity - apple and pear, a whiff of smoke and ending with some bitter tones.
Probaly some old bottle effect as well.
    • Finish
Medium drying with some spices and vanilla.

[January, 2003]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 185 Euro (362 Deutschmark) in January, 2001.

[January, 2005]  Together with friends I emptied another bottle that I bought for 162 Euro in May, 2003.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90 both times.  I did not take any notes as I knew this whisky before (pls. see notes below).

[November, 2002]  I had another dram during a Prof. Schobert "Islay" tasting at Rolandsbogen. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 90.
My notes state an average sherry colour and slow fat legs (oily texture at the glass).  The nose is a nice mix of sherry and fruity aromas with a significant peatiness.  The mouthfeel is gentle and tongue-coating.  The body is soft and sweet on a light sherry profile.  The finish is of medium length.
