Nose: A beautiful raisin / honey sweetness flatters the nose, but a lemon flavor, like grated lemon zest, demands attention. They do not "argue". Both aromas oscillate around each other - they kindly share the attention of the gentle connoisseur. A nice, pleasing interplay. A spicy Schokonote has it not easy against this Aromentandem. The alcohol is very nicely involved, nothing stands out here. I also find malt and vanilla when looking for them. If there's sulfur then it's hardly noticeable to me.

Palate: A delicate alcoholic Pritzeln is palpable. The raisins become clearer. The mouthfeel is not oily, rather a bit watery. Warming the Mortlach trickles down the throat and provides for a drying pad on the tongue. Dark chocolate initiates the finish. Herbal notes come in and a slight "spicenes" flashes.

Finish: For me he is medium length and very pleasant. I like chocolate and coffee. Spicy, warming and drier, he says ahoy. But I do not want to say goodbye, give in. A dangerously tasty droplet.

Conclusion: A pleasing, balanced malt that does not overwhelm. A Fassreifung, which gives the Brennereicharakter a chance. The 43 vol. % are ok for me and the PLV too.

"The true great all-rounder!"  Possibly better than the vaunted Flora and Fauna, definitely cheaper and more widely available.
    • Nose
Fragrant honey and vanilla. Reminiscent of Stranahan’s Colorado malt.
    • Taste
Smooth and syrupy.  Lovely.  Bitter, butter, malty, orange, and concentrated fruit syrups.
    • Finish
Raisin Bran, cinnamon, spicy hot, somehow turning smoky?

Meat, salt, intense soup, soup cubes, sulfur, umami, leather; Amazingly clear profile at only 43%!

    [August, 2016]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 67 Euro in July, 2016.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 85.  I took no notes.

So I think that's not so summer drammig, I expect more from the Linkwood. He has nice spice and citrus mixes, is of course not the strongest on the chest, but you can do well.
    • Nose
Beautiful citrus peels, lemon and orange, light wheat flavors in the background, cotton candy, such a certain Esther sweetness, vanilla, sweet malt, sweet grass in between with a few flowers
    • Taste
Pretty spicy start, as you know it from Mortlach, nutmeg, black pepper, then come the orange peel, lemon zest, sweet malt, spicy oak, herbal honey, thyme and heather
    • Finish
Unfortunately, a bit weak, although there are beautiful orange peel and dry oak, but not much else and the majority sinks slightly warming
