      Uncomfortably sour, plastic and alcohol.
    • Taste
      Burning and alcohol. Sour and sweet at the same time as pepper
    • Finish
      Quite short. Spicy.

    Not my thing and completely overprised !!

      Difficult to say what I smell but it's not very inviting. A very stale sourness describes it the best.

      The tase is just a little bit better than the nose but it's not yahoo. It's still a sweet and sour combination, some spices and for me everything completely out of balance.

      Very short empty finish.

      Typical big fat soft grain, sour

      pepper finish.

      Really do not want to drink this.

    It's a nice enough grain but any decent single malt beats it by a mile. A 20-ish yo grain so you know what to expect: bananas, leafy greens, some re-re-re-re-refill cask wood notes, faint glue, butter, and a summer breeze, but that's all folks. Finish? Was there one? 75 on account of the clean profile without any major off notes (apart from the general booziness common to grains). For over a 100 euros I can think of dozens of bottles you should rather put your money into.

    A decent grain with a nice balance between sweet and spice.

      Apples, apple juice, honey, and a sour note (fermenting apples?). 
    • Taste
      Sweet maple arrival, oak, bitterness, apple juice, and that sour note. 
    • Finish
      Long finish with oak spice and bitterness.

    Invergordon 1988/2015 ‘Applewood Bake’ (46%, Wemyss Malts, butt, 697 bottles) Colour: white wine, so it was very ‘refill’ sherry. Nose: same profile as that of the Maltbarn, only even harsher, with less oak, and curious notes of old bread and coal dust, as well as some stale apple juice starting to ferment. Mouth: this is rather better, but it’s still some sugary, at times vodka-ish grain whisky. I do not find any depth of flavours in this. Finish: short, with perhaps a little pepper from the oak. Comments: of course it’s drinkable, and some will even find it good, but to me it’s just flavoured ethanol. You got it, I’m not a fan. Very un-Wemyss! SGP:531 - 72 points.
