Wonderfully versatile Bunna, great cask, you will find something for almost every taste, dream.
    • Nose
Full sweet & dark caramel, orange zest lightly burnt, apricot jam with some ginger in it, Earl Gray tea, cherries, plums, rosemary, hints of salt, wonderfully balanced, Christstollen, cinnamon, walnut, maple syrup
    • Taste
Raisins, plums, salt, dark caramel, roiboos, orange zest, hints of grapefruit, cinnamon, fresh coffee beans, wild garlic, rosemary, lavender, sour cherries, peach, some licorice and anise, ginger, old leather
    • Finish
Very long, tea, grapefruit tea, licorice, herbs like rosemary, fennel and lavender, apricot, dark malt

Not the maritime character that the name suggest but rather a very well balanced fruit bomb with loads of fresh berries and very well aged. The alternation between the fresh fruits/berries and the well matured more antique flavours is rather lovely. This dram benefits from some aeration time and can take a few drops of water (be careful though!).

All in all a great Bunna that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

A very nice and good matured Bunna. The cask influence is perfect, it is really complimentary to the whisky.

This is a very good nose. Very nice and layered. Give it some time and it will open up beautiful. Loads of flowers and good sweet red berries, there is indeed a mineral/salty side to this nose.
    • Taste
      89 89
A very nice mouth coating feeling. Some sour notes some flowery notes. Some honey, quite nice part of it is from the sherry cask, but nothing dominant here. There is a red berry sweetness here. Some wood in the background.
    • Finish

Medium-long length. This is very nice, some honey, hay, heater and red berries.
Fades away a tad dry, but it is forgiven, after 28 years that is expected. No bitterness to be detected, which I find perfect.

Join all the previous reviews, but ... I supplement with: banana! Beautiful dram!

Before I drank, I thought I would get a Black Forest, but I got a herbal chestnut brownie, but it's not too bad.
    • Nose
Shirley bomb, caramel, red berry jam, maple syrup, ginger sugar, raisins, roasted rosemary, cinnamon, sea salt cheese, cream, butter, nuts, chestnut brownies.
First, it was a Shirley bomb, followed by a lot of baked spices, and finally a chestnut brownie appeared.
    • Taste
Ginger licorice sugar, light herbal bitterness contrasts the sweetness of malt and honey, a little burning sensation brought by pepper and oak, dead dark fruits, old leather, tobacco, cocoa powder.
    • Finish
The medium long, slightly bitter Chinese herbal soup, cocoa, has lost its vitality in oak.
