So where to put... It is a nice and very well done Glendronach Single Cask. Nevertheless you expect for 180€ (03/2016) something special compared to other Single Casks which are 30-40€ cheaper but unfortunately you won't get. A very well done dram which is quite special due to its sour notes and makes a lot of fun to drink.
    • Nose
The usual Sherry rocket of sweet fruits: plums, oranges also some sour (lemon) notes. Afterwards a lot of milk chocolate and cocoa powder.
    • Taste
The taste is not as sweet as expected as you have fermented grapes but then also honey, plums again, white pepper
    • Finish
Nice finish with some honey and fruits. Very nice!

Nothing out the ordinary where Glendronach is concerned.
This is better with water but like most of the Glendronachs in this age range it is pretty boring compared to similar aged stuff from the early 70`s.

    At nose,

intense woody, heavy sherry that explodes into nostrils, and spices. Dark chocolate to orange comes next, very appetizing!

On the palate, varied spices, mixed, sweet, nuts, malt that has aged, sweet, herbaceous, caramelized, Sherry wafts the palate, as well as alcohol, it is necessary to work the saliva to avoid a little fire! Return of old wood, leather, dark chocolate.

In the end, long on wood, maderized wine, on oil, on leather, on fruit like raisin soaked in old armagnac so much sugar reaches the bottom of the glass.

A very good dram, to take digestive, to let aerate!
    • Nose
      sherry-chocolate-woody and peppery spices!

An excellent teenager from Glendronach, the profile is very 'regular', but still so entertaining.
    • Nose
Typical sherry cask matured Glendronach, a great combo of yellow and red fruits, leather and tobacco. Rich, thick and inviting.
    • Taste
Rick, oily, with molasses, coffee, dark fruits, notes of rum, praline and some spices.
    • Finish
Quite long on fresh red fruits, dark chocolate and coffee.

A moderate sherry monster. Extra points for the oriental notes.
    • Nose
Slightly vinegary, very spicy and a little oil. Almost like a good dark salad dressing. Then some dark tobacco, chocolate cake dough, and  a little floral. Pistachio and Almonds/marzipan. Some dried plums. Slightly beefy.
    • Taste
Strong but soft spices. First some cumin. Almonds. Quite dry. Honey, hazel nuts, cake dough and again some pistachio= Baklava. Very interesting. Then some overly spiced plum marmalade and a little bit of pepper.
    • Finish
Very long and certainly dry. Spices, spices everywhere.

Very well balanced Glendronach, I always like the Orientnotes.
    • Nose
Plums, oranges, milk chocolate, with clove, flowers & oriental spices
    • Taste
Figs, bitter orange, grapes, jam, crispy oak inbetween, clove, ginger, saffron, oriental
    • Finish
Long, the distant spices remain with berry bushes & sherry oak back
