Whisky Reviews for Ballantine's Finest Scotch Whisky

  1. lincolnimp scored this whisky 73 points Connoisseur

I have never been a big fan of this Ballantine's profile no matter how old the bottle has been and this is over 50 years old but initially I have struggled with it.
As you explore it the problem becomes apparent it is the thinness of the palate that is the problem as the flavours are actually ok.
If you explore it for long enough you get a sweet syrupy taste (not thickness of the liquid) but even back in the 60`s I suspect caramel was used
So just below my MOTR score for blends which is 75.
