Whisky Reviews for Aberfeldy 1998

- Very nice nose: sherry, wood, fresh fruit, vanilla, biscuit malt, then a little vegetal, fresh and minty. With water, more honeyed and with dried fruits. In the mouth, it spoils: much too keen on the attack, shame, there are beautiful fruits in the syrup behind. With water it's a little better, but lacks fullness.
- From my point of view: Everything a sherryfassgereifter Malt must have.
Initially, distinct oak notes that dissolve into the glass after some standing and reveal dark aromas of the sherry cask: prunes and other dried fruit like (rum) raisins, waves of dark chocolate, some tobacco and vanilla. In addition, creamy in the nose. 44 points.
Oily consistency. Thin streaks on the glass. Voluminous sherry flavors, creamy and cuddly on the palate: freshly brewed coffee / espresso, dark chocolate, raisins, prunes. Spicy oak, Christmas spices. Everything is well balanced, tasty and full-bodied. Sweet and tasty, 45 points.
Very soft, with a lot of sherry and waves of bitter chocolate. Toasted malt.
