A really nice dream which loves water! Peated cask give just the right amount of smoke to allow the delicate and complex Glenlivet spirit to show.
    • Nose
Not peaky, just good clean smoke. With time the smoke gently begins to open and up comes a mossy and grassy note. With a drop of water, classic Glenlivet notes of apples and tropical fruits appear.
    • Taste
On the palate it's hot, alcohol definitely doing a lot of talking. Smoky and dirty, lots of moss, grass and smoke. With water the a creaminess comes in, lots of vanilla and notes of green apple coming through.
    • Finish
Long, with water it is apples with just a wisp of smoke lurking in the background.

This saw a 6-month finish in [an] Islay cask[s].

N: Beefy ethanol, yeah! Tomato and Worcestershire Sauce Wheat Crunchies meets Bloody Mary with an additional touch of coal tar and BBQ scrub.

T: Big on smoke as well as being salty, vegetal, and winey.

F: Remains super bright and smoky, becoming more creamy as the smoke softens a touch. The power makes such an impact in comparison to the first couple of 40%ers, but is it all too overwhelming at such high strength?

C: Imagine a blend where Ardbeg is the malt and Glenlivet acts as the neutral grain, in a 30/70 split. Thankfully, this expression doesn’t come across as too gimmicky, the fruity Nadurra-ness still recognisable even after an Islay dunking.

Had this one blind. Extremely fresh dram. Guessed it to be less strong by a mile and older. Surprised by the reveal. A very Nice NAS. Could it be highlands or Speyside. The casks explaines the bacon / salt vs Speyside feel that I had. Was always split between the very fresh notes vs the more oaky / bitter inflence, hence the unbalance caused me to reduce the overall score with a point

Extremely fresh. Red Apples, and explosion of pears. My my. Peaches. Then evolved into a more green style. Cut logs, foresty and cut grass.

Buttery feel. Still very fresh. Green Apples. Pears. Citrus zest. Vanilla. Bitterness.
    • Finish

Quite long. Some bitter spices. Yet fresh. Floral. Lemons. Pepper. Bacon, salt. Pears of course

Tasted at Story Tellers: Tasting Whisky in January 2017

    quite heavy on the alcohol.

interresting combination of a Nadurra and peat, but it does not really do it for me.

With the addition of water, the smoke is clearly in the background, the sharpness subsides and fruits become clearer. Whether you want that, everyone has to decide for themselves. Ordinary whisky as always in the Nadurrareihe. Otherwise a Glenlivet with clear smoke !!!!. You do not have that every day in the glass, therefore reasonably priced (55 €, 2017/06).
    • Nose
Smoke, salt, ham, sweet behind, lemons with water: more citrus, lime, pineapple, cotton candy
    • Taste
Ash, sour fruits, spicy with water: sweeter, more citrusy, still tingles on the tongue
    • Finish
long, sweet, smoke, dark chocolate with water: medium, sweet, fruity

A dram as I like them, simple, intense, the note of peat just break a little fruit intake!
    • Nose
      Exotic fruits and fine peat!
    • Taste
the peat is almost too little, but various spices and passion fruit, pineapple ... and apples in return explode in the mouth, the vanilla presents then the return of alcohol is felt !!
    • Finish
medium to long enough on the same scents, then wood and peat reappear!
