  1. Cask1988 did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

Normally i’m not that into single grain whiskies but this is a beauty!
    • Nose
A beautiful play between the grainy sweetness and several red fruits from the cask. Macaroons, vanilla and forest fruits. A hint of green thyme. It’s sweet, friendly i’d even say elegant. A slight hint of glue remains. It is there but in a very subtle kind of way. With water added more red fruits are revealed
    • Taste
A lot of creamy sweetness on arrival, and shortly after that quite a bite. A rather alcohol driven taste at first. It does get slightly more bitter with water so i wouldn’t add to much of it.
    • Finish
Vanilla, sweet red fruits, white pepper and hay. Medium-long.

a big punch of alcohol, lots of vanilla and wood. apples and a hint of glue, not uncommon with grains.
on taste some Coconut macaroons, more vanilla, sugar and even more sugar.

Grain whisky should for sure not dominate a collection. At least not mine, but an occasional dram of grain does not heart. I always have one open. This sample I got from one of my whisky mates.

Conditions for a grain whisky (for me):

    High abv

    High age

Leave it in a glass for at least 30-45 minutes to breath.

Nose: great! I love the sweetness of grain whisky. Caramel, vanille.

Taste: good, but I had expected a better bite.

    Finish: bit too short unfortunately.

I wouldn't buy it at the current price shown on Whiskybase.

Very spicy in the mouth. Too much, even; it spoils the pleasure. Too bad because the nose was promising. The good news is that a drop of water (yes, for once I tried ;-)) does him the greatest good! The spices then calm down and vanilla sweetness takes over.
81/100 without water, 85/100 with water.
    • Nose
Malted cereal, dried yellow apple, and a light spicy honey dust. Vanilla nectarine. At first rather alcoholic, it is necessary to let the air ventilate a moment so that the nose becomes more sweet and greedy on the marzipan.
    • Taste
Honey malt and spicy apple. A lot of vanilla too. Spices are becoming more and more present and pungent.
    • Finish
Average. The spices persist. When they start to calm down, a fruity bitterness appears.
