  2. Gaija scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Better and "purer" than the Madeira but not by that much. The sherry influence is very discrete. A correct HP, but I'd take the 18 OB anytime over this.
    • Nose
Compared to the Madeira equivalent that I had just before (cask 9151), this one feels more vivid and fresh, more natural somehow. Fresh earth, apples, maybe some mandarines and a tiny bit of tobacco. I'm okay with this.
    • Taste
Less convincing ; just like the Madeira I find the palate clearly below the nose. Not very expressive to say the least, evanescent notes of earth and oak, dried citrus zests, some tobacco and medicinal hints ... but you have to focus to find them, no big spontaneity here.
    • Finish
Same vein with earth, malt, without any noticeable evolution.

  3. Bishlouk scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

The Sherry cask finish is very discreet, even undetectable. I also find the profile of this HP closer to a Speyside than an HP. It is nevertheless pleasant and easy to access.
    • Nose
A nose on dried green and yellow fruits. Dusty apple, lemon zest too.
    • Taste
Yellow apple, pear peel, and drops of lemon.
    • Finish
Average. The fruity bitterness of apple peel settles. The fruity dust is back.
