Maybe it’s fitting that my 400th bottle was my 3rd bottle of this. Still a winner in my book. If some might say that Glenfiddich Is simple, then I would say it’s simply delicious. There’s more substance here than it would initially seem, driven of course by fruits and vanilla that are a perfect foil for the intense bourbon cask maturation. If I ever feel that my access to single malt might be limited by my location in the world, I can remind myself that at least this is always available, affordable…and delicious.

    Delicious summer whisky.

Nose: Subtle hints of vanilla. Sweetness of sugar and fruit. Oaky as expected from a bourbon cask.

Palate: Sweet and smoky. Vanilla and caramel with some orange notes. Oaky taste is pleasant.

Finish: Longer than expected. Sugary sweetness lingers with some vanilla trailing behind.

Overall Score: 81. Deliciousness as expected from a Glenfiddich, admittedly a personal favorite. Sweetness goes a long way for me and this has a perfect blend of hearty and delicate flavor. I was gifted this bottle a few years ago by a Scottish friend and I’ll always be happy they introduced me to Glenfiddich.

Different from the standard profile of for instance the 15-years-old with more surprises and a bit more depth and substance. I particularly liked the waxiness. At times it lacked a bit of balance for me, since appeared slightly wacky with a peculiar taste of perfume.
    • Nose
      86 86
Sweet nose with plenty of citrus fruits, fudge and straw. Citrus sweets and orange-flavoured white chocolate. There a mineral, grassy site behind these smells. More caramel fudge to complete a round nose. A few additions with citrus butter, butter cake, and more lemon. Water balances the nose slightly more between the citrus and grasses. Water turns it more into fragrant roses, orange soda and citrussy fudge.
    • Taste
      87 87
Reasonable spirit-y taste with lots of grassy orange sweets, floral notes and tannins. It is leaving the mouth very dry. Quite unusual and not something I found this extreme in a whisky. I get grapefruit, lime stone, water melon, tangerine juice and wood. The tannins tend to block the aftertaste. Some water improves the palate and makes it much less dry. More oranges, tangerines, and in particular pineapples juice. I also find some rose water and slightly sour milk and a bit of wax. Water makes it more pleasant, better balanced and more fragrant. Aftertaste contains perfume-y, mineral notes with orange-flavoured water, lime soda and melon juice.

    • Nose
Red apples leaning towards apple compote, fresh pears in the background. Creme brulee. Honey and some lemons too. A little bit of coconut. Later also a floral note and icing sugar.
    • Taste
Vanilla custard, a hint of bananas. Followed by caramel and honey. Somewhat spicy towards the end, cinnamon, a touch of ginger and a tiny hint of black pepper.
    • Finish
The finish is mid-long, with vanilla and lingering warming spices, such as cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg. And a little bit of toasted oak here.

Really decent bottle for the price. I like it, surprisingly
    • Nose
Sweet, fruity nose. Ex-bourbon barrel influence is evident along with some of the signature Glenfiddich notes. Vanilla, apples, pears, caramelized brown sugar, honey glazed nuts, faint cinnamon
    • Taste
Sweet and creamy with decent mouthfeel. Not super complex but a very enjoyable light dram. Creamy vanilla toffee, brown sugar, baked apples, notes of baking spices including cinnamon and nutmeg, mild bitterness
    • Finish
Medium-short finish. Lingering vanilla, apples, and touch of spice⁣

This is very interesting. I had a bottle about a year ago and found it to be sweet (more than malty sweet). However, this one is a little different. The nose is rather unimpressive with hints of vanilla and grist. However, the palate comes alive. Ginger is a big component. Cinnamon pudding. This is dessert like. I think I'll go have another one. :)

This wasn’t bad at all. Nothing amazing, but the first fill bourbon works really well with the light fruity character of the Glenfiddich distillate for a pleasant, soft daily drinker.
    • Nose
Peaches. Woody vanilla. Barley cream. Cooked pears. Light coconut. Banana flavoring.
    • Taste
Woodspice. Salted caramel. Apples. Oak chips. Tingling white pepper on the swallow.
    • Finish
Short. Woodspice, pears and wood tannins and the a few creamy sweet notes.

Bourbon-like aftertaste, vanilla, sweet, very light pepper, wood tones.

  21. Achany scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Nose is at first quite unimpressive, does need some time to develop. Nice and heavy influence of bourbon casks. Vanilla, a little grassy, barley, some herbs, green apples, floral. Really fine dramI found this bottle for under € 50 in Switzerland after buying two bottles last year in the US - so to me this is a reasonable price for a 14yo old Single Malt

I am now convinced that scotch does bourbon better.  An unassuming all-star.
    • Nose
Pungent, aromatic, bourbon nose, fully fruity, juicy Glenfiddich pear, peach iced tea mix, sour Granny Smith apple, honey, vanilla, caramel, delicious.
    • Taste
Fruity, spicy then sweet, hints of cola, cinnamon, syrupy and layered development.
    • Finish
Medium, drying, woody, lingering, apple juice, cinnamon, and more pears.

An appealing nose and quite eventful on the palate. A savoury whisky
where both the slightly increased alcohol content and the American oak
casks have given a pretty good impact in the mouth. Rich, vibrant and
well-balanced with yummy vanilla sweetness, ripe apple fruitiness and
intensive oaky spiciness. A digified addition to Glenfiddich's core
range. Too bad it's US market exclusive.

    • Nose
Rich vanilla notes immediately jump out of the glass. Creamy with icing
sugar, toffee and baked yellow apples. Ripe summer fruit linger with
tender citrus, spiced oak and cinnamon in the back.
    • Taste
Rich and layered on the palate with lots of sweet vanilla, red apples
and toffee. This is accompanied by a warming spiciness of oak, cinnamon,
nutmeg and black pepper. A silky mouthfeel with hints of candied orange
peel and caramel towards the finish. The warming spiciness nicely
      increases with every sip.
    • Finish
The finish shows good length with a delicate and warming spiciness of
toasted oak and subtle cloves. Slightly bitter orange peel and subtle
dry notes of dark chocolate on the tail.

      WITH WATER: Lively and
vibrant on the nose with a few drops of water. Besides the lovely sweet
vanilla flavours more spicy notes of oak, pepper and nutmeg emerge.
Sweet and rich on the palate with lots of red apples and summer fruit,
while the spiciness is tamed significantly. The finish is medium long,
warm and creamy with vanilla, apples and tender spiced oak.
