  3. KayMeertens scored this whisky 88 points Specialist

    • Nose
Honey, apple, marzipan, orange, limestone, peach, vanilla pudding and galia melon.
    • Taste
Beeswax, apple, almond, toffee, smoke and something puke-y. The latter is gone when adding water, which is an improvement.
    • Finish
Almond, honey, caramel, vanilla and smoke.

  4. St. Pauli scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

With water, it seems to lose balance. Overall a very good whisky.
    • Nose
Sweet, succulent and fruity. Apricot, apple and banana, beeswax, honey, sawdust. Furthermore, it's a bit mineral and herbal (eucalyptus).
    • Taste
Soft and oily, herbal (more on hay now), fruity on banana and apple, a little drying towards the end.
    • Finish
Bold pepper, spices, eucalyptus and grass, unripe banana and peach.

The palate might be a bit too spicy for some, but the nose is just so rich.
    • Nose
Really fresh and inviting. Minerals (wet rock), only a small amount of beeswax. Some toasted oak maybe. A hint (and I really do mean a hint) of smoke. Ends on a fruity note with green apples and underripe banana. Very rich.
    • Taste
Oily mouthfeel. Arrives with some chili pepper, followed by chalk and green apples. Fairly bold and a bit rough/unpolished.
    • Finish
Drying, chalky and herbaceous. Fairly long.

I do not think water is needed because it is so smooth.

    Very good.
    • Nose
Nice fruity nose, reminds me of some of the later Lochside offerings. I get rich strawberry jam, a little blood orange and caramel mixed in with shoe polish.
    • Taste
First impressions are very good, it is spicy on ginger and a little pepper. The sherry is mixed in with cinder toffee.
    • Finish
Medium length and just a little drying.
