    Candy

It has been rather quite at Dutch independent bottler Kintra. No releases in 2016 and only 4 in 2015 including this one. That has everything to do with the fact that they owner is currently working hard in his own brand-new distillery Wagging Finger, where all attention at the moment goes to their new gin (which is lovely, by the way). This Braes of Glenlivet (nowadays Braeval) was released in Kintra’s single cask range.

Fresh, summery nose on apples, gooseberries, beeswax, lime, vanilla and a hint of pineapple. Nice. Some coconut milk in the background. Very soft on the spices. Think ginger and liquorice.

Ah, wonderfully creamy on the palate. Immediately quite piquant, but also honey sweet. Candy-like. Bounty on steroids. Coconut, chocolate and dried pineapple.

The finish is quite short, unfortunately, and remains sweet as candy.

A spring whisky if ever there was one.
