    nose:
black, intense, sherry, candied black cherry, mold, cocoa,
    dry, old varnish, soaked raisins
pepper, dark chocolate, bitter cocoa, wine vinegar
    mouth:
the strength of the nose is here far behind, it is soft, creamy, it is heavy in soggy wood, maderized fruits, cocoa, the peppery spices enhance the sensation even more
return of oak, black fruits again, dark chocolate, a little crushed and dried almond juice with a trace of almost fresh bitterness, dark chocolate with caramel, mountain honey and pastry spices, a few minty herbs.
    final:
strong, intense, on the same scents with marked oak, mold and sherry for a finish that lasts a long time in the mouth with a return of toasted caramel that freezes.

For me this dram is a bit dryer and bitter than I would really love it. Nevertheless we have here a great dram which is very complex and giving a lot of dirty but also some dry fruity elements. Very well done!

With water: Not recommended as it kills the dram and not opening additional elements.
    • Nose
The alcohol is tickling the nose. more dirty notes so bacon, barbecue and pepper which is more than the sweet fruity sherry influence as you might know from Sherry Casks.
    • Taste
The taste is sweeter more like an apricot liquor but not giving the fruity palate. It is more sugar liquor with some pepper influence. Still dirty!
    • Finish
sweet and dry sherry finish with pepper and a bit oaky bitterness. Lovely!

Glendronach 19 year old 1995 (cask 3806) Batch 12 (54.5%). Quite dark orange. Aroma mutates a lot initially between oxidised notes of sherry, paper, leaves and dried apple. Some dodgy notes suggested sulphur - for just a moment - and then gone. Settles on something that suggests aromatic woods. Complex nose that's hard to dissect. Flowers, toffee, oak, incense come out over time. Definitely one to leave in the glass for 15 minutes beforehand. Taste is rich and super salty, toffee and oak. Much more one-dimensional than the nose and quite intense. Punchy booze. Quite simplistic. Has an impressive intensity and richness but I feel like the sherry has taken over everything to expense of complexity. 3.5/84

Nose on the grape / prune, chocolate, cinnamon combo. In the mouth it is very concentrated, oily, on the chocolate orange, the alcohol is very well integrated, the woody comes to coat the finish
