N- A world blend of Scotch and Canadian with the air of Japan. Coconut, clotted cream with hint of rubber, young, oily and liqueur-ish. Toasted bread with olive butter, cherry and green curry leaf. (85/19)

P- Green olive, corn syrup, nutmeg with perfume-y wood. Rich and sweet. (85/19)

F- Medium, young, taste of husky new make, sweet, certainly oily. (84/18)

B/B- 84/18 May be more like a liqueur than whisky, but not at all bad, it just feeling wee slappy.

    Cereal-1, Fruity- 2, Floral- 1, Peaty- 1, Feinty- 2, Sulphury- 1, Woody- 1, WInery- 1, Spicy- 2

    Weighted Rate- 74pt

The noticeable ethanol aroma must be a sign of the grain in this blend. The mix is uneven and flat, but also unusual. It's not anything I could recognize as a Scotch, despite supposedly containing 40% of some Scotch malt. It's closer to Nikka From the Barrel, but I think FtB is a step or two above this rather thin concoction.
    • Nose
Orance juice concentrate and planks, and some ethanol. Nail polish, young oak, hand soap. Solvent-like, with a faint smell of fish scales. Cucumber skin. A wisp of smoke.
    • Taste
Metal and orange juice concentrate. Ethanol and watered down pear juice. Mildly peppery, mildly oaky, with some cheap marmalade notes.
    • Finish
Fleeting. A mix of ethanol and sugary sweetness. Bitter tangerines.

    Not undrinkable, but...

Let’s start with the positives. The anthracite finish on the bottle is a really nice touch and the print work on the label is, for want of a better word, nice. There. Positive things done.

What’s inside the bottle is pretty dire.

On the nose the overwhelming scent of solvents and grain whisky pretty much rule the roost. It’s not completely one dimensional but it’s close run thing. There hints of candy floss, whiffs of apple skins, a hint of wood notes. It’s just not very nice. It gets even worse when you start thinking about how much it cost. Oh the shame!

Palate wise it delivers on the promise of the nose and delivers grainy, sweet, slightly woody and grassy dram. There’s moments when it reminds me a little of a watered down version of Glenlivet 12 from the 1970’s/1980’s but this seems an unfair comparison.

It’s a hard whisky to recommend. It’s a mashup of Scottish and Canadian malts and grain whiskies that are shipped to Japan, whacked into barrels and left to sit in a tunnel. Maybe it would be better if it was left there. For a long time. Maybe forever.

I can’t think of anything more constructive to say that don’t bother. Life is short and the world is full of amazing whisky for the same price or less. Go try them instead.

A very pale whiskey, in every sense ....

Tasted from a nearly empty bottle. A full one might be scored a bit higher
    • Nose
      Vanilla, sugary sweetness, sirup, rummy
    • Taste
Oranges, burnt sugar, light bitterness, watery
    • Finish
short finish, a tad austere, undefined sweetness

easy and unusual but not bad. you can do it
    • Nose
first glue and thinner, after 10 minutes the actual very floral nose gets through. Rose water and floral notes predominate
    • Taste
soft and sweet with slightly woody aromas, but it gets watery quite quickly
    • Finish
easy and pleasant but very short. maybe even with a little fruity notes

Uiuiui, so the nose had scared me first. The taste was still really bearable, there were even nice exotic / sugar notes if not over anything cheaper, white rum / ethanol would hang. And the departure was of course non-existent.
    • Nose
Very sweet light grain, nail polish remover, really has something of new make, rosehip, sugar syrup, estherotes, ethanol, unripe apricot
    • Taste
Well, actually much nicer than in the nose, from which I thought I could probably. blind. Brightest fruits, white grapes, Lychee, of course, already clear (but not burning) alcohol notes, sweet malt, sugar beet, has just really something of a average clear rum, vllt. even better in comparison, Esther notes, slightly maritime hints
    • Finish
Short, a bit sprightly with sugar and young oak and some salt

A pleasantly soft and mild whiskey, this cooling effect was a novelty, I had so far with no whiskey - 10.12.2016
    • Nose
Malt sweetness, vanilla, biscuits, creamy sweet, honey, lemon, peppermint, rosehip
    • Taste
Malt sweetness, nuts, menthol, cools the mouth and immediately come associations of ice candy, very soft and mild, again vanilla and honey, some oak
    • Finish
      medium

a blended plus to surf the "Japanese effect", with a blend of malt and grain, the flavors are discrete, little peat, little interest if not to qq who wants to taste without being afraid, or who wants to "initiate "to the wiseky!

a little iodine, various fruits but not a spring and ... no final!
    • Nose
malty sweetness, vanilla, a little glue, fruit undifferentiated walls, but pulling on apple and mandarin, sweet spices!
