Unbelievably good for the young age. An absolute outlier barrel in positive terms. Bottled at the perfect time. Here is this slogan for once exceptionally like a fist on the eye. Before I could reorder, he was gone. What a pity. It takes the right amount of time and soft water. Then there are 90 points. I myself am quite surprised that such a young and so favorable dram of me can get such a note. Fantastic, how he preserves his power and his taste even with very strong water addition. It is also amazing how well the alcohol is integrated and that it begins to be wonderfully intense, gentle and surprisingly complex for only 9.25 years on the palate, ending with a very spicy finish (a "chili-catch"), after the spice has faded but still a felt eternity watering the mouth and despite the (diluted) high alcohol strength and chili spiciness never sprittig acts and does not burn, either in the esophagus or in the stomach.
One of the very few malts, which I would immediately buy back spontaneously, if it were still possible.

    • Nose
sweet and a lot of sherry, dark ripe fruit, orange, plum..very heavy and full. Somehow dirty. Delicious!
    • Taste
oily, creamy, sweet, powerful on, a lot of sherry, plum, oak and spice, some orange, nut.
    • Finish
      long and spicy sweet.

The high alcohol content and the strawy, musty fruit aroma are very getting used to and idiosyncratic. A very unusual drop, very tasty.
    • Nose
Bright copper. Slightly pink, almost like a port finish. Voluminous, intense sherry are the first impression. I have seldom experienced such a fruity sherry with a strawy aroma. A strange muff spreads, a scent of fresh orange peel spills in the glass. Slowly, the high alcohol content begins to biter in the nose.
    • Taste
Violent sherry with extreme oak notes explode in the mouth. A pleasant sweetness comes to the fore. After adding a good shot of water creates a pleasant sweet fruitiness. Again fine wood flavors with a hint of orange. The muff of the nose can be found in the taste, a hay aroma mixes with the musty fruit.
    • Finish
The finish begins with fine wood flavors, slowly turns into sweet fruit and exudes a long, spicy and plump fruit aroma.

Modern sherried malt, not too many tobacco or leather notes, more fruity. Very powerful, takes water, is not a complexity monster but fun and not unbalanced as such. If handled with care can provide much enjoyment.

Don't be afraid to add quite some water. Once you get it right it's a whole different whisky. Unbelievable how full of flavor it still is watered down. It's a whole different whisky with more flavor actually since you didn't kill your taste buds.

I know there are a lot of people thinking adding water is bad practice, which it's not since regular OB's are also watered down, but believe me this will be one of the best examples I can think of to experience this effect. Along with ( some even beter) botteling of ultimate tamdhu 's which actually become cloudy and full of flavor.

These Ultimate Tamdhu 's are superb for the money.

I was totally thrilled that nearly three years after my first review, when now emptying the last spared 0.1 litre sample of the bottle, I can totally confirm what I wrote in my first statement.

What a pity that this was a single cask and not a standard. Well, this quality as a "standard" would have been much more expensive and it would have been discontinued due to a lack of such superior casks.......
