    Not had much Mannochmore.
Really enoyed this sample from karloff.
It made me all the more curious about the 25YO I got on the shelf.
    • Nose
      87 87
      Quite delicate complex nose.
Mix of yellow fruits and dark berries.
Sweet citrus with a slightly musky hint.
      Chocolate and vineous wood.
    • Taste
      90 90
Rich and bold arrival on chocolate, oranges and sherry.
Moderately sweet, moderately spicy, actually very ballanced.
    • Finish
      87 87
      Past medium lenght.
      Dark cherry jam.
Dry cocoa powder with a little bitterness.
      Ending on spicy liqorice notes.

I have had Mannochmore before, it was the F&F and really liked it. Loved this one as well from top to bottom. Sometimes a whisky can lose its way as you go down the bottle for one reason or another, this didn't. And the big cherry on top was I got it fairly cheap.
    • Nose
      89 89
Vanilla, orange chocolate, strawberry cheesecake, ripe melon and banana. A lovely sweet nose of dark fruit and confectionery.
I am also getting some sort of soda or even red bull.
A great and it has to be great rose wine.
    • Taste
      92 92
Orange peel and banana, mint and lemon balm with just a pinch of spice.
The sherry influence is there but it is not right in your face, it's quite subtle and it lets the profile shine.
It has just the right sweetness for me which makes it very pleasant indeed. This isn't a complex dram but what is there is in abundance and they play off each other really well.
    • Finish
      88 88
It's a good solid medium finish, the spice is just increased with just another pinch and orange liquorice on the death.

    Nice balanced whisky.
    • Nose
      88 88
Smell of freshly beaten wood. Dark fruits up to Cognacaroma. Partly to recognize bourbon aroma.
    • Taste
      86 86
Very soft. In the beginning, a touch of bourbon comes through but is then replaced by a red wine note. Nice sweet dark fruit jam tastable.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long, sweet again, this time more like peach. Fine oak note.

    • Nose
Very ripe and yeasty fruits. Ripe pears and some sour apple. Very light sherry touch and hint of nuts. The oak is more present.
    • Taste
Very fruity, peaches and pears. Juicy citrus is coming through with pepper and oak covered in oil but turning soon into a sec mouthfeel. Very intensif and herby. In the second sip was definitly a peppermint twist.
    • Finish
      Medium finsh, herbs and oak.

Alright. There is a great nose, very pleasant, taste wise half as big, finish can't be found. So you get some complexity from the 20yish old malt on the nose but how is it possible to undercut the finish like it would be vodka? What happened?

    Concerning price/performance ratio: 6/10
    • Nose
Fruits (apples, pears), some sherry, caramel, vanilla, honey, some salted oranges. some sweet mints way in the back.
    • Taste
Caramel, some oranges, fruits, vanilla, some spices.
    • Finish
Almost non. Hints of oak. Nothing more to say.

    N-
Well honey, floral, caramel and vanilla. Strawberry, fresh nutmeg,
nutty and lemon tart. Scents of a pastries kitchen. Pleasant and charm. P- Quite some disturbing active oak, mouth-full of dry bitter grind
coffee, roasted malt. Soft notes of oily nutmeg and bitter honey, as
well layer of bitter orange in the pack.

    F- Medium.
Bitterness are more obvious, rocket leaves, overdose of orange seeds and
charred burnt notes, unusually herbaceous, acquired taste.
