Could you be blind in the Speyside, if not for the salty note in the nose. A decent whisky, which lacks a special moment of tension, to be more than tidy.
    • Nose
      84 84
Creamy-creamy nose with maritime accents. Creamy sweets, toffee and sweet orange marmalade, along with salty sea spray. Mild and pleasant, does not push itself, but is not too restrained. After some time, the fruit notes dominate.
    • Taste
      83 83
Dry with orange slices, almonds, hazelnuts and milk chocolate. The almond / nut mixture is clearly visible and reminds in combination with the oranges of one or the other classic Speysider. Honey, vanilla ice cream, a lot of caramel.
    • Finish
      82 82
Rather short, slightly dry, nutty and still with the orange slices.

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I find both good and reasonably priced (65 €), Batch 3 is certainly the expectation for "red wine casks" a little closer.
    • Nose
Direct Comparison Batch 2 vs. Batch 3:
both sweet, nutty, caramel, suggest sherry rather than red wine.
2 slightly milder, creamier, 3 slightly more intense, slightly maritime-fresh
After a while, both of them produce a fruity red wine note, 2 becomes even more caramel-like, 3 more dry, spicy wood
    • Taste
Direct Comparison Batch 2 vs. Batch 3:
both soft but full-bodied, caramel sweet, toffee, with a slightly earthy note and some pepper.
the difference lies in the fruitiness - (2) yellow, sweet - orange marmalade, cooked peaches, (3) fresh, red berries
    • Finish
Direct Comparison Batch 2 vs. Batch 3:
both relatively long, 2 very creamy with pepper, 3 rather dark chocolate and woody, bitter

A pleasant distillate! After the whisky has been swirled several times in the glass, it flows slowly with thick legs on the glass wall. At the same time a clear aura forms around the glass, dark fruits, grapes, reminds a little of sherry.

In the nose it is quite mild, soft and round. Only with beautiful fruit notes, coupled with aromas, which I have often found in Bunnahabhain to have found so towards dry clam shells, a breeze of salt air, while pleasantly fresh. With a little time in the air, a tingling peppery note is added. That he has lain in wine barrels, he shows quite clearly. The present sweetness fits quite well. The longer it stays in the glass, the more it changes, remains a little at the now appearing aromas such as the pepperiness, before he sways back again ... was there just a subtle mint note?

On the palate: wow, the first contact, a board, a balancing act. Strong, full-bodied, spicy hot, tingling on the tongue .... The second sip, not quite as extreme. Slightly salty and also here, I say Bunnahabhain taste, full-bodied and soft, dry, light bitter notes Finisch: soft, a little warming in the stomach with delay, remains quite strong and clear on the tongue, reminiscent of a salt crust, dry, beautiful fruit sweetness, spicy.

    I liked it.

Fairly soft Single Malt from Bunnahabhain.
Well balanced with fruity Red Wine notes.
I couldn't find any maritime notes, as opposed to many other Distillery offerings.

Tried together with a friend. He thinks that's a ladies' whisky. Well, if you are committed to Caol Ila and Lagavulin ... Anyway, I think the Eirigh na Greine outstanding. That's just ... delicious!

Soft and fruity with a small alcohol note. Appearances of ripe sweet cherries and blackberries. In addition, something salty maritime. Very nice!
    • Taste
      95 95
Lie down softly on the tongue and then tingle a bit. Strong on the palate. Now I can imagine the red wine well. Voluminous and many ripe red fruit. In the background always this maritime note. Fantastic!
    • Finish
      92 92
Medium long, but full and spicy. The red fruit I have quite a long time on the palate and on the tongue is again the maritime. That's a great whisky!
