Aroma: Salty, smoky and strong with sea water and a lemony sweetness. Taste: Sweet and smoky with barley malt and dried fruits. An intense note of pepper. Finish: Warming, intense and persistent with pepper.
An excellent single malt from Sky, albeit of varying quality from year to year. Still, at its best, it offers a solid nose: smoky and peppery, a robust body and a relatively long finish for its young age.
Quite dry, very fruity, fairly consistent with the nose.
Quite long due to the high alcohol content. Consistent with the palate without being monotonous.
Spicy, dense smoke. Behind are sweet, bright fruit notes. Smoked ham and salty sea spray. Smells really like these Bacon Barbecue Chips. Salted malt and sweetish vanilla. In the background are few splashes of lemon. With time, a leather flavor becomes more and more apparent. A pinch of pepper and licorice come along.
Oily, fruity sweet onset. This Bacon-Barbecue Chips flavor also in the taste. Salted apricot jelly. This light lemon flavor also in the taste. Some leather and actually a bit of liquorice. Above all this full smoke. Jo ... towards the end, then the legendary chili sharpness. But in a manageable, delicious area.
Medium long and pleasantly spicy. The full smoke lingers. Subtle salt note, paired with a nice fruit sweetness.
4/100 for this batch according to a taster. I wouldn't dare scoring a malt that low without droping a line explaining what I found unpleasant to that extend. Just a matter of respect and common sense...
