Color

Nose

Peat, sweet, salted caramel, soft citrus, vanilla, herbs, rubber, tar.

Taste

Peat, salt, citrus, almond, ashes, grass.

Finish

Long. Peat, dry barley, ashes, algae, tabaco.

Comments
More ashes than the previous version of 2014. Quite good stuff, reminds me about some Octomores. It is more concise than the 2014 version.
Concerning price/performance ratio: 7/10

Nose

Sweet peat, vanilla, slightly medicinal, wet clothes, coastal, herbs.

Taste

Punchy, smoky and oily. Medicinal notes, spices, lemon.

Finish

Long, smoky, slightly ashy, salty.

Comments

It's still more civilised than the SN2014 (from memory) and didn't change as far as I remember. But my tastes did, so it will lose one point. Anyway it's a good whisky, just lacking a tiny bit something.

By the way, where are the 100 ppm ? Yeah, I know, it's just numbers.

Tasting notes from october 2016.

Nose

A lot more peat than smoke, medicinal, earthy, artificial plastic, wet wood, bitter herbs

Taste

Punchy, very peaty, little smoky, meaty, ham, bacon, very little sweetness, spices, herbs, very little fruitiness

Finish

Long and burning, more spices and bitter herbs

Comments

The over peatiness with rather little smoke and no fruitiness and rather dry, spicy is a bit less typical Ardbeg - this is a bit more extreme than the SN 2009 but I actually prefer most the SN 2010

Taste

P: l’impatto è devastante, in intensità e compattezza.

First nose is huge. Peat blast, but just underlines sweeter aromas. Honey, Rhubarb, Citrus.

High expectations on the taste, which does not disappoint. Big and complex. Ashes, burn chocolate, citrus. Peat fire. Excellent length with high complexity. It was a long time since I didn't have an Ardbeg dram with so much in it. It reminds me of the first releases of Uigeadail or even the 77. It's not that modern style I guess, more old school Ardbeg for my palate.

Simply amazing, but I would have liked a canister/box for a bottle of this price.
