I like it in its overall calmness with the sometimes rather special note just wonderful.
    • Nose
interesting, almost cool nose, some mint, light peat, a subtle mustiness, absolutely no alcohol that stings in the nose, but this slightly cheesy, sweaty note is also special.
    • Taste
soft, sweet and salty, then a bitter oak note, a surprisingly herbaceous bitterness, a little cotton candy still remains in the background.
    • Finish
first a little herbaceous bitterness, then nice peat, a pleasant smoky tart mouthfeel remains.

  3. LaddieNerd scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Delicious. Unfortunately not in barrel strength.
    • Nose
      85 85
Peat, ham chips, subtle plum. Complex notes.
    • Taste
      86 86
Again, peat, complex red fruits, some vanilla and wood.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium length finish. Again, peat and red fruits.

The 1st ever bottling from Bruihladdich to contain Octomore.

    olor: Pale gold

Nose: It’s a true laddie in nature when it comes to the fruitiness, but all this is layered below a nice peaty cover. It reminds me quite a bit the Octomore 2.1 nose. I like it.

Mouth : Ashe, Big Peat, but sweeter notes are abundant. You get a very delicious sort of “peaty” lollipop feeling, which is quite interesting. It’s very strong, and peppery.

Finish : Peppery, Ashy, quite long and enjoyable.

    Summing it up :

While not Enormously complex, it’s very enjoyable and not as flat as can be expected. The sweet-peat-fruit mélange does the work. It’s a sort of in your face! Malt, I’d recommend it to peat lovers especially and those who like a very strong impact of coal, smoke, and ash in their face, nose and throat. It’s not an Octomore, or a supernova, but it’s darn peaty and wild. The Price (£40.35) is also not too high, and you get a chance to sample some PC, Octomore and laddie in one.

Norrie, this wee dram is in your honor!

a truly three-dimensional, completely satisfying drop; what else do you want for the daily dram?
    • Nose
Already at the opening and pouring, promising scents of fragrance give an idea of upcoming well-being. Although the nose is enshrouded in powerful, smoky-phenolic aspects, it also treats fruity parts (apple, pear), rounded off with honey and some menthol.
    • Taste
wide, honey, candle wax, ashes, phenol (all in a balanced range)
    • Finish
warm, not in the least burning; reviewing all previous aspects; additional pepper and fine vanilla in the background

    • Nose
Rich aromas of smoke and peat with citrus, toffee, apple, vanilla and dried apricots
    • Taste
A full character with a pronounced taste of peat, smoke and citrus complemented by flower-like tones and vanilla
    • Finish
A powerful aftertaste of lemon and lime with a clear presence of smoke

An exceptional Bruidladdich consisting of 3 different malts, Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore. The Bruichladdich 3D3 Norrie Campbell is a tribute to the famous Whisky connoisseur.

    Place: Hulshout Water Supply
    • Nose
      Peat, cherries, ripe fruit, cereals
    • Taste
Peaty, some bitter hints, nice wood; good, but expected more
    • Finish
      Long, peaty, dry, some oak

  17. mmaclean did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

"An excellent Bruichladdich, this 3D3 was produced as a tribute to the

well-loved Islay peat-cutter Norrie Campbell, who passed away in 2006.

3D3 contains three malts - Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore -

at three different ages, and is the most heavily-peated of the 3D

    releases."

This whisky is so intense and wonderful that I will
not be trying anything else tonight. And it is less than 50 EUR? I daresay,
    this one is recommended.
    • Nose

It is no surprise that you get a nose full of peat.
But once past it, I also get candlewax, a light scent of stable and thyme.
Underlying also quite a bit of coffee and toffee, lime and apple and finally
      some marzipan. I
am pleasantly surprised by this complexity.
    • Taste

On the palate, it is again the peat that demands your
attention first, with ashes and greasy coal. It is immediately followed by a
surprisingly sweet twist of toffee. Feisty on black and red peppers. This is
      good!
    • Finish

The finish, which is a perfect continuation of the
      palate, is very long. Memorable!

    • Nose
Green apples with peat, pears and smoke, freshness and sweetness. Nose is somewhere between Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte. A lot of fresh peat and leafs.
    • Taste
It starts with light bitterness, goes to sweetness with hot sensation in palate, peat sweetness, light sourness, sea saltiness, pears in marinade, grilled fish. Also dark cold coffee with milk in
    • Finish
      Long, semidry and very hot.

  20. Roel scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Good 3D3 bottling on sweet and peaty variations, but no peat monster. My favourite from the 3D series thus far.
    • Nose
Strong and sweet peat dominate the nose at first. Then vegetal sulphery notes (farn, moss, tea) and Japanes Bonito stock. Some vegetable skin.
    • Taste
Very spicy with peat and Bonito returning together with some seaweed and quite some salt. Also lemon peper (reminds me of Ardbeg).
    • Finish
Medium to long finish, balanced and sweet hints
