Exciting and varied nose, against which the taste, however, unfortunately falls slightly. Overall, but still a great whisky, which might have tolerated a little more maturity.
    • Nose
      89 89
Strong aromatic smoke wafts at first salty and slightly ashen from the glass. Earthy and spicy undertones which with a bit of imagination are reminiscent of a ripe, strong cheese. Behind it is also something fruity-sweet that already suggests the red wine finish, but can not be specified for me closer.
    • Taste
      86 86
Powerful and intense start. Again, a lot of smoke here. But then immediately vinous-sour, a lot of grape flavor. Pleasantly dry on the palate.
    • Finish
      83 83
Warming but overall surprisingly short as it dries very quickly. The smoke remains in the throat for a long time.

Outstanding nose, could sniff it non-stop. The taste is not 100% mine. Maybe a few years more barrel would have been good for him. The finish again very nice. 85 points, a smelling whisky.
    • Nose
At the beginning rich smoke, which is almost completely covered after a long smell by the massive fruit notes. Red wine fruits, red wine tannins. Parmesan, seasoning. something oriental. Really magical nose. With water even more fruity and almost more beautiful.
    • Taste
Very sharp. Suddenly, the smoke that used to be so discreet in the nose explodes. Weinig fruity dry. hardly sweetness, hardly bitterness. The sharpness remains even after the addition of water, but less, but the rest is paler, too bad.
    • Finish
The finish calms the stressed for me mouth. Spicy-smoky dry.

  4. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Beautifully integrated wine, plus an elegant, delicious smoke, great, could only be a bit older.
    • Nose
Cold fireplace, but behind it the tartness of Tempranillo, after time also berries, grapes etc. with the typical PC notes in front of it
    • Taste
First fine smoke, then sets in a mixture of very complex sweetness and acidity of dark fruits, berries, great integrated wine, in between dry oak
    • Finish
Long, warm, a fine smoked feeling remains in the mouth, but also a little vinous on the throat

Price is way too high for a 12yo single malt scotch.

Not a "Best Dram" but a good dram.
A slight metallic touch which shouldn´t be there after 12y.

PS: The metal is really just a hint of, not disturbing and well integrating in the ashy smoke and young feeling. Raised from 88 pts. to 89 pts.

Strong nose, good rest. Smoke and wine harmonize well.
    • Nose
Sweet, fat peat smoke typical of Port Charlotte, more peat than smoke. A strong, sticky sweetness of the wine resonates in the nose, also slightly cheesy, you have to like that. Then spices like cloves and cardamom came to light. Complex, complex nose.
    • Taste
In the mouth then very strong smoke, glowing, campfire, pepper, a tart oak note and clearly vinous notes. Less sweet than expected.
    • Finish
Pepper, tart oak, and clear notes of the wine. Sounds like harsh oak and strong, ashen peat smoke.
