    I gave this whisky 79 marks overall about a week's ago. Thought I might have missed something and should give the rest of the sample another try.....

    Sadly, it didn't do my sipping quota any justice!
    • Nose
      79 79
      Unripe pear appeared first, then cream soda again. Sniffed hard then there's watered-down rose water, and some honey at the back. That's it. Most importantly basically everything disappeared quite soon, leaving just a little sugary aroma. So, no, the second chance didn't do it any god.
    • Taste
      80 80
      Candied ginger mostly, and hard candy. Mouth numbingly dry. The sweetness added a point.
    • Finish
      79 79
      Nothing new, i.e. plactic-y, and chest warming.

    Overall it doesn't warrant finishing a 3cl sample!
    • Nose
      A little bready to start with...and stopped there. Need my nose so added water to reduce it to about 55%. Pear then showed up, and a faint hint of cream soda. It really needed time to open up...if it did. No, unfortunately, it didn't. Yes, eventually there was damp wood, may be a little peach. But that's it! I wonder what the palate would be.
    • Taste
      The mouth feel is dry, and there's the heat. Luckily that's on the ginger side so was in the good way. There's a little ash too. That's it, I don't think I will finish the rest of the sample!
    • Finish
      The finish is plastic-y, long and chest-warming.

    Okay but not mine;
    • Nose
      Vanilla, honey, grass, alcoholic;
    • Taste
      Strong, strong, tingling, peppery, malted flavors and clearly oak, heather, some white chocolate;
    • Finish
      Powerful, oak freight, medium;

    [March, 2016]  Finally I emptied a bottle that I bought for 58 Euro in June, 2015.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 85.  My notes state a fruity profile.

    Better than expected, especially for a 10 Y old. Well done Cadenhead.
    • Nose
      At first a lot of vanilla but not unpleasant followed by a fruity sweetness. Also a bit nutty smell. A lot of tears in the glass not coming down easy.
    • Taste
      Malt, vanilla taste and a spicyness I didn't expect after nosing this one. Not to complex but tasty. A few drops of water as I normally use don't make a big difference in taste.
    • Finish
      Short, medium and oily on the tongue for quite a while.
