Odor : Ui, complex and strong. Citrus fruits, orange and lemon, tart vanilla, oak. And there is still a flavor in the background that reminds me of bath foam, not unpleasant, but somehow exotic. Great!
Taste : Amazingly strong for only 40%, it tastes spicy and slightly sour and also sweet, like a lemon yogurt, mixed with a pinch of salt. At the second sip it becomes milder and also the acidity weakens, but milk chocolate comes to the fore, behind it remains a strong spiciness. Even oak makes itself felt, without much bitterness.
Finish : Warm and sweet, the whisky runs down the throat, in the mouth the chocolate remains, more bitter this time. A dry touch of salt stays in the mouth and lets the tongue stick to the palate. In the end, a bittersweet memory remains. Medium.

Conclusion : Super, I like it really well. I did not know what to expect and was more than positively surprised. For the price, under warranty, a bottle will find a place on my shelf. First class distillery crafts! I have 86 points. So many an expensive, much praised, independent single cask bottling can cut off a thick slice of it.

    [July, 2009]  I emptied a bottle (on my own) that I bought for 31 Euro in July, 2009.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  My notes state easy drinkable stuff, quite delicate...

The old Solera is one of my personal favourites. It has most of what I like in a dram. Sadly it has become almost unavailable, I try to catch one in an auction every now and again.

It's not bad, but I can not help feeling that it could be even better. Add at least 3% of alcohol and the result would come to me
    • Nose
Oranges, pears, gooseberries, honey and malt. Later begins to manifest, sherry - raisins, nuts, milk chocolate
    • Taste
On the tongue of a combination of oak sweets and black pepper - malt, sweetened tea with milk, background of citrus fruit and green apples. The whole is so smooth and creamy
    • Finish
In the reverberation, cream, malt and finally medium-spicy and lightly raspberry + feel dry plums - medium-long reverberation

Is there still a "normal" 15-year-old Glenfiddich at the moment? In my memory, there is hardly any difference in taste from the solera. This one goes down easily and is nice and balanced. Can you drink, but I would rather tend to 12er or 18er (for more complexity).
