A quirky but very tasty dram. Definitely one of the more interesting cheaper whiskies.
    • Nose
Apples, banana, unripe fruits. A little caramel and sweet toffee.
    • Taste
Fresh apples. A lot of fruits, a little spicy. Maltiness, a little vanilla.
    • Finish
Relatively short, somewhat peppery sweet vanilla finish but the fresh apples really do linger on the palate.

  3. valery77 scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Vanilla, green apple, tropical fruits, light delicate malt notes, crumb of fresh gray bread, green grass, fruit lozenges. Although simple, but very pleasant and "summer". 21
    • Taste
Medium, moderately sweet. Fruit caramel, vanilla notes, black pepper, creamy toffee, ascorbic acid. 20
    • Finish
Medium in length, fading smoothly, with a manifestation of not very pleasant alcoholic bitterness at the very end. nineteen
Uncomplicated, but drinkable and pleasant spacer. Balance 21.
      Total 81

The Deveron 12YO is not bad. It’s appears with sweet notes of cake, peanut butter, sherbet, perfume and vanilla. The palate is a sweet and fat with black currant, dried fruits, butter and oak notes. The finish is a short, dry and spicy with vanilla, dried fruits and oak notes.

  5. paulmalt scored this whisky 82 points Expert Junior

    Delicate light whisky
    • Nose
flowers, fresh apple and pear, lemongrass, subtle breeze of sea air.
    • Taste
A light flower honey, tea, salt, grassy herbs, vanilla
    • Finish
not that long, fading honey, flower and a with whiff of saltiness

  6. rottendon scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Relatively interesting, although not complex, but still in balance and quite robust. As a beginner painting a real asset.
    • Nose
Light fruits, some lightly pickled, honey, floral notes, malt and salty sea air. Later, a few herbal notes come on. It warms up very dense, creamy and sweet. A lot of caramel with a slight overlying acidity. With increasing temperature, the acid goes back and the herbs become more.
    • Taste
For 40% quite strong onset, honey sweetness and herbs in a beautiful balance, a bit metallic but not young. Not as thin as feared. Is there some salt?
    • Finish
Not very long-lasting, the sweetness goes fast, a little soft oak remains on the tongue, in the end quite dry.

The Deveron 12 yo (40%, OB, +/-2015)  Colour: gold. Nose: why would we, as Frenchmen, rather have the 10 as an exclusivity? This has more depth, more complexity, more elegance, more herbs, peelings, green tea, flowers, bread… But it remains a little light and, well evanescent. Mouth: ah, more character! It’s even got a coastal side, with this funny blend of metal and seaweed, plus a very excellent phenolic side that’s sometimes to be found in older HPs or even Pulteneys. Herbal teas (I can think of rosehip and honeysuckle). Cauliflower dumplings. Very very good old style! Finish: a bit short again, and getting drier as often, but at least you’re remembering you just had some very good malt whisky. Comments: I’ll say it, this is a huge surprise. The world of thirsty men and women NEEDS a full-strength version of this!!! I’m almost about to start an online petition. SGP:352 - 85 points.

    • Nose
Apple. Fresh, green apple. Oak, lemon peel. Some malt.
    • Taste
      Apple. Sparkling, sour. Noticeable oak.

Easy drinker. Too easy. Wood influence is big, not bad. Nose is better than taste.
    • Nose
w/o water: sweet overripe red fruit, spearmint, fresh oranges, light, sweet grainy notes. Dry.

w/ water: more integrated sweet of cites, berries, less dry.
    • Taste
w/o water: short sweet arrival (strawberries), quick and short development to bitter citrus fruit and dry, warm hay (?)

w/ water: sweet arrival, short development to wood spices and dry citrus.
    • Finish
Medium long, dry wood and citrus

Very direct, on fruits (apples), floral, somewhat nutty. A little honey. After that, it's cup. In the mouth, fruity also but a bit bland, at least vis-à-vis the promises of the nose. Generous finish on the other hand, very fruity too. Archetypal Highlands! Mouth a little disappointing but this "daily dram" has beautiful assets.

    Enthusiasm 3/5

This reminded me of the Glenlivet Founders Reserve but not as bad.
    • Nose
There are some Dates straight away , also some dried leaves , a touch of honey with caramel , green apples , a slice of lemon and a bit of old varnished wood .
    • Taste
The first thing I get is a sour and sickly taste, not good , also some off caramel with a pinch of salt . There is a touch of lemon zest and some nuts. The second glass doesn't taste as bad ,it's not as sickly or as sour. I would say it's a it more palatable .
    • Finish
The finish isn't anything to write home about either , I found it very short bitter and dry , a bit nutty on the death .

After the first nose impression rather arbitrary, but the herbal history makes him interesting and more than just tasty, 35 € OK. To various UA Macduffs, however, he does not get ran, there are still quite different things.
    • Nose
starts light, sweet and fresh-fruity (like Glenfiddich- / Glenlivet-like), green apple, vanilla, honey, a little acid ... more time in the glass brings grass, hay, dried herbs, some caramel ... pleasant
    • Taste
clear herbs ... herbal tea with chamomile and honey, is on the back of the tongue almost a bit towards herbal bitter
    • Finish
medium length, herbal bitters (oak), slightly prickling

Quite good although nothing special. The finish is it's weak spot. Good pricing. About 30 euro.
    • Nose
Fresh grass, apples, pears, vanilla, some honey and hay, some sharpness which makes it smell younger then 12yo
    • Taste
Mild, honey sweetness, vanilla notes, some nuttiness, hints of fresh apples and pears, some sharpness comes over from the nose
    • Finish
Short, malty, mildly drying, slightly bitter at the end,

  31. Cerebrum scored this whisky 80 points Member Senior

The nose is fantastic. So juicy, fresh green apples rarely experienced. Unfortunately, the palate does not hold at all what the nose promises.

  32. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

The nose is excellent, after which it gives way a bit, but still enjoyable. But the PLV is great. in the price range a really nice whisky and then still with age.
    • Nose
Characterful nose. Sweet at first, honey, bright fruits, some wax, then oak and some strange maritime, like a hint of peat (without it being smoky). With time, he opens up properly and now is more on honey and fruits.
    • Taste
In the mouth, unfortunately, a little less meaningful. Amazingly dry, some fruit, some oak and some toffee, the maritime keeps a little, but only in the background
    • Finish
rather tart, slightly fruity, some toffee.

  33. St. Pauli scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

A very pleasant dram if you ask me. It's no muscle whisky, but a gentle bloke. Very well balanced between the creamy, maritime character and the spices. Too bad the finish is a bit short.
    • Nose
Very gentle, creamy (vanilla, butterscotch), waxy (polished oak, beeswax), a mild sea breeze, some heather honey, a bit of hay and parsley, and orange.
    • Taste
Starting sweet, evolving towards a bit drying, which is nice. Honeyed barley, vanilla cream, flowers, pepper and clove.
    • Finish
Just a little short, drying on spices and vanilla.

  34. Gearmailteach scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

Well, quite OK. I found the old Glen Deveron 15 better by a long shot.
    • Nose
Mild and floral. Light fruit, predominantly sweet apple. A subtle hint of vanilla and a little malt.
    • Taste
The nose repeats: apple, vanilla, toffee, some honey, malt and oak.
    • Finish
Mitel long. Slightly bitter, coffee and malt. Sucked Faesser ?!
