      Ripe fruit, barley sugar, waxed wood. Everything is generous, a little too much, nag limit.

    Exciting, layered ex-bourbon cask whisky.
    • Nose
      Strong, spicy sweet, a lot of oak, beautiful undefined fruit and spice notes. Hints of smoke (though unsuccessful), or is the wood, cigar box? Very exciting, multi-layered nose.
    • Taste
      Peppery in the mouth, slightly fruity, vanilla and not too tart oak notes. Sandalwood, nutmeg, pepper, a true spice cupboard.
    • Finish
      Spices (nutmeg, pepper, cumin), in addition a tart oak, but also a minimal sweetness that balances that. Over time, the finish becomes fruity, tingling.

    A nicely layered, rich and not too complex whisky that has an oily mouthfeel. This whisky tastes so much older than it is, you would rather think that you are dealing with a 20 year old whisky rather than a young 4 to 5 year old whisky. Of all expressions I've tasted so far from John Paul, this is my favorite. Normally I would prefer a peated version but this whisky is so seductive and creamy that it won me over. Lovely candy from Goa!

    • Nose
      With charming, round, rich, balanced and complex whisky with notes of plum, apple, cedar, black currants, red currants, blackberries, barley sugar, malt, cereals, cappuccino, custard pudding, vanilla, rich honey, caramel, ginger, white pepper , hint of cumin, nutmeg, cloves, hinting at orange, beeswax, spicy oak, subtle tannins, hint at Sandalwood?, toffee, caramel and dark fruit compote.
    • Taste
      A round, rich, full, layered, balanced and complex whisky with notes of lemon, pineapple, orange, lemon, banana, berries, red fruits, grains, barley sugar, malt, brown sugar, rich honey, caramel, toffee, vanilla, beeswax , licorice, ginger, cloves, cumin, white pepper, a hint of laurel, hint of eucalyptus, floral tones, marmalade, hint of liquorice, spicy oak and slightly bitter tannins.
    • Finish
      A long sweet finish with fresh fruit, nice citrus tones, spices, oak, tannins, cereals, vanilla, hint to Turkish delight, butter and caramel.

    Tasting Notes by Van Zuylen:

    Color: deep gold.

    Nose: soft aromas of vanilla and caramel with light fruitiness of plums, blackberries and blackcurrants, a clear accent of ginger and hints of clove and nutmeg.

    Taste: fairly sweet and spicy with hints of barley malt, brown sugar, licorice and cloves. After this come fleshy tones of cured hams and smoked beef and light notes of toasted oak wood drying.

    Finish: In the aftertaste gets the spiciness nice counterbalance tones of dark fruit.
