Whisky Reviews for Arran 2004
8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.06 points
- Rich raisins and spices, which are to be expected from a sherry cask. Dried oranges melt into chocalate as the medium-long finish lingers.
- In conclusion, a very good whisky to which it will not be necessary to ask the complexity of a 20Y, but the more you will advance in the bottle, the more it will be ventilated, the more it will civilize and give its full potential. www.passionduwhisky.com
Nose: Wow winning poker shot. Super sherry, orange, chocolate. Cake, see gingerbread. Fruits, woods, spices. A nice little lot. Caramel way old rum.
Palate: Perfect alcohol, sulfur. Elegant profile and well marked. A lot of spices, pepper certainly, but also cinnamon, maybe nutmeg.
Final: Slight drought. A small green plum and slightly tart. Sherry and wood stay in the background.
- Delhaize has chosen a great cask and bottled it for a very good price!
- this whisky is amazing !! its verry cheap its definitely a bang for your buck 88/100
thanks thomas vervoort for the sample of this amazing whisky
,go check out his whisky blog!
first note i get is a large amount of sherry with some nuttiness
its a heavy kind of sherry but also verry sweet after a few minutes chocolate appears also e light hint of roasted coffee beans in the background
i added some water just a few drops: caramel appears and some cinnamon also after a while some herbal notes in the far background
cheamy in the mouth with lots and lots of sherry notes with some citrus as well the chocolate and the nuttiness is also back its a verry sweet whisky
long finsh with dark chocolate and orange zest
a verry dry finish with lots of dark chocolate
- Color: Amber
Nose: Starts of with sweet Sherry, which is to be expected. There's also a nice freshness to it. "Mon Cherry" chocolate (chocolate filled with cherry cream), hints of sulphur, mint and eucalyptus. After some times it gets even sweeter with notes of orange and butterscotch.
Palate: Very sweet arrival, then some peppers and sulphur before everything is covered in bitter chocolate. Quite thick and oily mouthfeel
Finish: Dark chocolate again, some peppers, cinnamon, cumin and even some blueberries! Some ash in there as well. The chocolate stays for a very long time though! After some time in the glass, the finish also has some orange notes.
You can tell this is a close relative to cask 2014/13. This one is more of everything: more alcohol, more sweetness, more complexity and unfortunately more sulphur. The complexity is great though, it changes every couple of minutes, just to make things more interesting.
At €49,99, this is a very good dram.http://whiskyinformer.com/home/arran-20042015-for-delhaize
