Whisky Reviews for Tomatin 1988

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.89 points

  1. Thinh Nguyen scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

    Colour: Amber

Nose: ham, BBQ, jam, orange, citrus

    Body: sweet, ham, balanced

Finished: Medium, very taste dram, I like the ham and bbq nose very much. A nice balanced dram.

  2. Northern&Isles scored this whisky 99 points Expert Senior

Super tasty tomato with double barrel maturation in bourbon and port wine barrels. Batch 2 is over 26 years old, not 25. The wooden box has the correct description for Batch 2, the old label from Batch 1 is on the bottle.
Could therefore get collector's value very well.
Extremely well balanced with red fruits and berries, vanilla, toffee, non-bitter oak, spices, mint, malt.
    Dangerously juicy, voluminous and full-bodied.
Strong with a long finish. Great.

  3. StyrianSpirit scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

A very successful, full mix. On the one hand, he looks very young, then again, the longer in the glass, old and ripe. But always fresh, fresh, fresh. Extremely tasty. Is getting better in the glass.
    • Nose
A very fine light fruity nose meets me. Grapes, vanilla, baked flavors, a fresh (strawberry) jam jar.
    • Taste
Round and oily, this single malt comes into the mouth. The Portweinnote delicately emerges from the background. The alcohol is well integrated, it unfolds its power imperceptibly, everything in the right place. Extremely elegant.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Oak notes also appear in the finish, the port wine is now felt stronger, continues to underline the grape, berry and vanilla flavors.

  4. Drochaid scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Aroma: strawberry jam and honey-glazed ham! Cantaloupe melon and freshly squeezed orange juice
Taste: sweet with buttery notes, cotton candy - then red fruits, eucalyptus and mint - some coconut and smoke
Finish: fresh on the finish with a great depth
    (D. Notes)

  5. Achany scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

spicy, sweet, good wood influence. the first sip was astonishing and it took some time until I got deeper into this dram. every sip got better and better. very fine malt, complex and good age - nice!
