Probably one of the best bourbon's I have ever tasted in my life (except some bunch of George T. Stagg's...). CJ took a bottle from the US and gave it to me with some last drams in it. Distilled pre-prohibition in the fall of 1917 it was bottled at 100 proof during the last year of prohibition in 1932 by the Americal Medicinal Spirits Company (DSP-KY-368) in Louisville. AMS - then owned by the Wathen family - was one of the few distillers legally selling booze during the prohibited years. The whiskey could only be obtained via doctors prescription.
Once a while a dusty bottle of AMS shows up in the US. Photo's of my empty bottle can be found here: http://whiskeyid.com/american-medicinal-spirits-special-old-reserve-pint-1917-1932/
