Quite a lovely fruity dram, and not too dry, which sometimes port casks seem to develop.
    • Nose
      89 89
Cherries, marzipan quite dominant, caramel, chocolate, apples (red), muffins, blueberries, nice and round.
    • Taste
      89 89
chocolate, hint of leather, apple strudel, laurel, warm, a bit like gluhwein, hint of smoke. And oranges.
    • Finish
      87 87
warm apple strudel, cherries, oak spices, bit oily, old antique furniture

  4. Allandale scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A surprisingly light, soft and smooth body.
    • Nose
Lightly fruity. Dark, soft fruits as it opens . Nut toffee. A hint of coffee.
    • Taste
Sweet. Some fruitiness, but lacks complexity.
    • Finish
Proposes  a seduction, then vanishes. A tease.

The port cask finish works surprisingly well, adding some fruitier notes to what I expect would otherwise be a tad too dry of a whisky.
    • Nose
Inviting and warming, with a fair amount of nuttiness, but the sweetness from the port finish wins. Cherry syrup, oranges, raisins. Milk chocolate as well. It's well-balanced, maybe a bit thin.
    • Taste
Fruity and spicy. Cloves and a touch of pepper, but also raspberries and oranges. Slightly leathery, with a hint of peat smoke. A bit dry.
    • Finish
The tobacco really moves to the forefront in the finish. A touch of menthol as well. Ends on a sweeter note.

  7. KayMeertens scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

    Beautiful. 90/91.
    • Nose
Bramble, orange, caramel, raisin, cherry, chocolate and fresh seafood (squid?). Later dried apricot, apple and marzipan.
    • Taste
Bramble, raisin, toffee, apple syrup, dark cherry and orange.
    • Finish
Blueberry, chocolate, toffee, apple, tobacco and peat smoke.
