Worth a purchase for sure.
The first thing to say here is that this smells heavy which I find surprising as this is matured in a bourbon hogshead.
There is a meaty note, not dissimilar to some Mortlach offerings but also some of the best old sherried Miltonduff so perhaps this cask has let the distillery profile shine through, here's hoping (fingers crossed).
There are a few creosote notes, date slices, dark plumb raisins, dark treacle, faint hint of melon, green apple skins, a little grapefruit.
A nice nose, the fact it is a bourbon cask is much more evident after time, so let this one breathe in the glass before tasting.
Toffee notes, white fruits, cream and candied sugar sweets but also a little honey and a tiny amount of menthol but it is restrained, not the most expressive palate.
Some spices elevate thing, a little pepper, ginger and perhaps nutmeg.
Reasonable length, remaining a little creamy, getting a little dry but no roughness, everything in harmony.
