Whisky Reviews for Threeland 2009

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 66.00 points

  1. Albaron scored this whisky 57 points Specialist

Although matured for 6 years, one has the impression of drinking a newmake. However, this is the most mature of all three, but still he could have stayed twice that time again. Water does not help much with the general immaturity of bottling. Furthermore, the differences between the 3 Threeland bottlings are very marginal.
    • Nose
Hay, grass, solvents, hair spray, furniture polish, glue, alcohol, light sweetness, mountain pine

with water: the nose does not change, the alcohol decreases
    • Taste
lots of alcohol and solvents, some barley, some sweetness and again the mountain pine, unfortunately again very artificial and also bitter

with water: although the alcohol level decreases a bit, but the aromas are hardly increasing and still the artificial schnapps note remains
    • Finish
some sweetness, the mountain pine and the artificial schnapps note remains

own style. Very fruity, but ripe and tasty. Beautiful honey notes.
    • Nose
very fruity, white wine, but also honey, oak and some vanilla, spices like nutmeg and cloves.
    • Taste
still fruity, more like a good Williams pear, but then some oak notes, some grape seeds and towards the end a bit harsh of the oak.
    • Finish
Fruit and oak, grape seeds, honey, the oak is quite clear at the end.

  3. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Wow. After ~ 1350, whiskys tasted a real low. I can not find it interesting or believe it, it has to be like this or it will already have its target group. Despite all tolerance and love for crazy stuff - I think (today) totally failed. But there are still 2cl, gives a 2nd chance. Edit: Nachverkostung 3 weeks later - in the smell at first a few sour & bread notes, otherwise full confirmation. I do not like distilling a distillery, and considering the few descriptions so far, I have a bit of a bad conscience writing this, but the 3 threelands I've tried (2x) have been (compared to several other DA-CH whiskys ) THE shot in the oven. Is it up to me, is it the whisky? No idea, but I think I am otherwise fair and very open to "other", interesting and funky whisky. But Threeland and I will not be friends for now.
    • Nose
bitter-fruity, somewhat sprightly and artificial, Obstler, new linoleum, with water can be briefly tickle out some chocolate, a drop too much -> dead.
    • Taste
superficially an obtrusive, strong-bitter and sharp plastic note, for a short time I get tasted bitter chocolate and lime, but is totally dominated by the chemistry.
    • Finish
      penetrating bitter
