Whisky Reviews for Threeland 2011

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 57.33 points

  1. Albaron scored this whisky 56 points Specialist

Way too young. Strong alcohol, port is virtually unnoticeable, this herb / tannin / Latschenkiefernote is very dominant and makes everything break
    • Nose
Hay, grass, alcohol, solvents, furniture polish, glue, sweet, coconut, mountain pine, powdered sugar
    • Taste
a lot of alcohol, very warm, hay / grass notes, mountain pine, tannins, artificial, sweetness, lemonade, the port can be perceived at most in the sweetness
    • Finish
Sweetness, tannins, mountain pine and the schnapps remain long

  2. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

Again, the barrel does not cover the fire, which is quite positive to see. Otherwise not quite my case.
    • Nose
Hair spray, unfortunately. Fruity, slightly nutty, nougat, vanilla. Pretty interesting. With water, the false note disappears and the whisky becomes soft and sweet.
    • Taste
Lots of fruit, lots of oak, vinous notes.
    • Finish
Nutty and fruity, slightly tart oak and some Threeland distillery character (grape seeds, perhaps from the Moselle wine barrels).

  3. Diogenes scored this whisky 59 points Expert Junior

My score is 54 points without water addition and 64 points with addition

  4. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

sometimes no typical "Germanic" whisky, getting used to, but interesting Edit: Nachverkostung 3 weeks later - smell fits, the taste comes penetranter, the bitterness more chemical, this solvent, the finish is not for delicate minds, bitter and Lackiererei. I do not like distilling a distillery, and considering the few descriptions so far, I have a bit of a bad conscience writing this, but the 3 threelands I've tried (2x) have been (compared to several other DA-CH whiskys ) THE shot in the oven. Is it up to me, is it the whisky? No idea, but I think I am otherwise fair and very open to "other", interesting and funky whisky. But Threeland and I will not be friends for now.
    • Nose
undiluted: relatively pleasant, non-biting adhesive note, some raisins and roasted aromas, with water: lemon, lime, grapes, gummy bears, raisins, rusks
    • Taste
surprisingly soft, bittersweet, walnut, with some water comes out nice grape nut chocolate, but also slightly chemically-artificially acting Obstler and Grappa notes
    • Finish
      slightly bitter citrus notes, chocolate
